Matt's King of Tokyo (Scripted)

Description
Scripted King of Tokyo. (Hobby/project) *Last updated 5/10/2025*
This is a complete and functional scripted version of the game, which includes all official and unofficial KoT content that I could get my hands on as of 2025.

Features:
• Includes Darkmode which adds an optional Wickedness Tracker. Rules in Notebook.

• The Tokyo Board has alternate states; One for Default, Darkmode, and Textless.

• King of Tokyo sold a bunch of Regional Promo Monsters which look like cool new monsters, but they didn't come with Evolution Decks!... I scoured the internet and found Community-Created Evolution Decks for a bunch of these Monsters, bringing this table's total from 21, to 51 unique playable Monsters, and counting!

• Many of the "Blue-outlined" Monsters Evolution Decks do not have art for the evolution cards, but you can still read the effects by holding your mouse over the card while it's face up outside the deck.

• Custom player boards to play your cards on, with scripted counters and graphics to reflect individual HP, VP, and Energy. Keep in mind there's no rules limiting a maximum number of Energy, Evolution Cards, or Power-Up Cards; it's just a representation for your board state, and I had to draw a line somewhere.

• Hover your mouse over all Monster Tokens to see a strategic breakdown of their Evolution strategy, to help categorize character's play-style into archetypes.

• Scripted Purchase and Restock buttons for the Power Up! shop. There are scripted boxes for each expansion set located at the bottom of the table that place assets. The default deck includes all expansions. If you'd like to play with only the core deck because you're teaching someone, etc., delete/set aside the deck in the middle of the table then click the expansion boxes you'd like to include.

• Scripted Dice that have an exploding graphic for each face and prints the results in chat. If you feel it's cluttering chat, feel free to swap them with the unscripted dice in the center of the table.

• Scripted Rolling Area to roll dice in 2 ways.
1) Clicking the Rolling Strip will roll all dice in the Roll Zone and print how many dice are being rolled in chat, to help everyone keep track of how many rerolls you've used.
2) Alternatively or you can drag a selection box around your dice, pick them up and align them into a neat row by pressing "1", then dragging and dropping them directly on the Rolling Strip.

• Token assets for all status-effects in the game.

• Quick and easy clickable Character Selection System, handles placing/swapping all game pieces.

Known Bugs with Monster Selector:
Bug: If you have to rewind time or reload the table from a save, the Monster Selector sometimes refuses to put items away correctly.
Fix: Try to play the entire game without rewinding time, and play each new game from a freshly loaded table. This will only cause issues while selecting Monsters during consecutive games without reloading, or if a player tries to swap Monsters mid-game.

Bug: Some Monsters have alternate Art for their Token and Board; this is accomplished by using Objects with multiple States. If you try to swap Monsters while using one of the Alternate-State game-pieces, it will not recall that game-piece and that Monster becomes unselectable.
Fix: Before swapping Monsters be sure to return all of your game pieces to their First-State by hovering over it and pressing "1". If this bug does happen, simply place the object that wasn't recalled back in the Monster's Envelope then Save/Load the game, then the Selector should fix itself.

• Check out my Homebrew Expansion: Ultimate Monsters!
Includes alternate Monster Boards for 6 classic Monsters. These Boards give Monsters access to four-tiers of unique repeatable abilities which expand on their Evolution strategy, providing alternate semi-consistent ways to spend your dice each turn.

It sounds like your PC may have some cached files from when this table was broken for a short time, and it's automatically using the broken files instead of failing to find and downloading the updated files.

I did some research and that's my hypothesis. It's actually not a bad idea to manually delete everything in your local Mods folder every once in a while to ensure everything stays up to date. This folder is typically found at "USER/Documents/My Games/Tabletop Simulator/Mods" in whatever local drive you downloaded the game to.

Deleting or simply renaming "Mods" to "Mods Backup" should make it download everything from scratch as you encounter in-game objects again. If you've been playing this game for years and years like me and have never cleared it, there's a good chance this folder is like 30+ gigabytes of multiple instances of every object you've ever encountered. There's also in-game settings to disable caching entirely.

So the way it happens on my end is I load the game up and it says it failed to load a script i keep trying to load it and it will always fail, so i just end up closing the tabs it opened in return one of the boards will end up being broken.

After some play testing, I didn't encounter any issues. I just updated a few minor typos in the rules & tutorial.

Thank you for letting me know there's an issue, please let me know what's wrong, and step by step how I can replicate the issue so I can figure out what's wrong and fix it.

The board in the white players spot keeps breaking, when will you be updating the mod. Very much would like to see it in its complete form and with all monsters working as this is by far the best King of Tokyo board game made on the workshop.
