What is Cosmic Husbandry?
Cosmic Husbandry is a farming-related mod that adds realistic animal breeds that behave with more "life", new deco objects, more ingredients, more food, and much more. Chickens in this mod can cluck, peck, look around, and make different chicken sounds, directly from real life!

As well as attempting to add more realistic animals, this mod also provides more realistic harvests and drops. Chickens can drop differently-coloured eggs that still work with vanilla or modded recipes!

New crops are introduced as well: "Smackroot" and "Flavherb", the alien versions of herbs and onions/garlic. These crops have been added to vanilla recipes and can be found all over the universe - even in modded biomes!
Crops aren't the only thing! New ingredients added are: Butter, Mayonnaise and Custard!

Not only that, this mod introduces farm-related objects for each animal type that is added. Because the first release has chickens, all deco objects are related to chickens! Chicken waterers, feeders, medicine, toys and more!

♦ There was going to be an "Egg Fuser" station included in the mod for hybrid breeds, but then I realized I'm not insane enough to sprite 100+ more chickens.

♦ When you are standing near Lucy's egg shop, she randomly gives you tips and fun facts about different types of animal breeds!

♦ Chickens are my favourite farm animal.

♦ I started working on this mod a very long time ago, all the way back in June of 2021. Then there was a massive period of not working on the mod for some reason lol.

♦Husbandry: "the care, cultivation, and breeding of crops and animals." Get your mind out of the gutter!

Q&A:
Q: Realistic? But then why can't I kill and prepare the animals to get meat/drops?
A: That part of realism I don't like. How chickens/animals are prepared for meals IN REAL LIFE is pretty awful overall, and I did NOT want to replicate that in Starbound. Nor do I find the killing of farm animals pleasant in general. You can STILL get meat drops when "harvesting" an animal that's ready, though!

Q: When will the next update be out for the next set of animals?
A: Time is subjective. Ha, jokes aside, I have a lot of other projects because I'm crazy or something. I can't give an exact date.

Q: Is there a feed/water system?
A: No. Although it would be more realistic, certainly, it's also...unrealistic. I'm a very forgetful person, and each time I've played a mod with food/water, my animals die because I forget. LOL. Soooo uh, yeah.

Q: What about a Frackin' Universe addon?
A: Although the chickens work with Frackin' Universe, I will NOT be making an addon to fully integrate them. Sorry! I don't use FU and have too many others things to do. YOU have full permission to make it entirely compatible if you want, though!

Q: Speaking of addons... Can I make my own addons/animals for this mod?
A: Sure!

I've seen you making addons for you mods, any chance for perrenial crops addon?
I like everything except going from planet to planet like a locust swarm, devouring every single smackroot and flawherb.
Finding them is not hard, but I don't like leaving behind destroyed ecosystems.

I think it was the planet I was on...found plenty since :)

I usually play with Frackin, so I get mixed up whats vanilla and what isn't. The Greenhouse lets you craft seeds for gene currency and other items.

The "Greenhouse"? Sorry, is that something added by another mod? Also, weird... I've been told the plants show up much too often, everywhere - the both of them.

Is it possible to build the seeds in the Greenhouse? I can't find the smackroot anywhere in the wild, though I have found plenty of flavherb. Not sure if I have overlooked something.
