Vampirism

Description
Built for 1.4.4.9 Alpha version of tModLoader.
Vampirism adds a few new accessories that enable playing the game as a vampire. It operates similar to using the werewolf charm, except its a bit more indepth.

You are stronger at night than you are during the day, and below the surface layer the sun can't reach you. Harvest blood from bosses to empower your own! Some key features of being a vampire include scaling lifesteal on melee weapons as you deliver a thousand cuts. Built in dash and wings at higher tiers as your bloodline continues to evolve. If you manage to slay many an enemy, you may find yourself in posession of a celestial artifact that could give you the power of the moon. This power makes you immune to the effects of daytime, and strengthens you further.

This build is meant to scale with traditional terraria content, and a bit past it. It will not carry you through moon lord, but you will definitely notice its affects.

To get started with being a vampire, the Sanguine Blood accessory can drop from more powerful enemies with a low chance. The eye of cthulu and plantera now drop new souls which can be used to upgrade your accessories to make them more powerful and add new features.

Latest Update:
Adjusted lifesteal mechanic. Turns out that some other mods out there don't bother setting their base damage for weapons, causing the rudamentary lifesteal calculations I was doing to generate negative healing.
Now I'm calculating based on the final damage NPC's take as the result of being hit. This should make it to where no negative numbers come out.

While doing this though, i found out that the vampire knives actually do wild things with the lifesteal value of the player. Just holding the vampire knives reduces your resting lifesteal rate by a randomized flat amount.
This was causing negative numbers because of the low percentage float values I was using. As a result of this, I just made the vampire knives lifestealing override the one provided by the mod, which technically makes that healing worse.
Its not ideal, but having them equipped does a lot behind the wheel and im only maintaining this instead of interating on it atm.

Previous Updates:
Fixed improper melee lifesteal.
----------------------------------

Fixed not receiving the Vampiric Recovery buff, which increases life regeneration for 10 seconds after making a melee attack while having any teir of Sanguine Blood equiped.

Alright, updated and fixed the common issues relating to negative numbers. At this point, if you're seeing negative numbers with specific weapons, or mod weapons, its because those items are doing something *drastically* wrong.

It's a cool mod, but, for some reason, makes some weapons give negative healing, so you lose health when you hit enemies. I think vanilla weapons are not affected by this, but some weapons from "stars above" and "fargo's souls" are,

I was wondering because my stats didn't change when it switched to night while I had the item equipped

@tiksey, the initial accessory drop comes from enemies with at least 50 health or greater. Your average early game monster on classic diffuculty has less than this amount but you can go to the jungle, granite areas, and deeper underground for consistently tougher enemies. In expert mode most enemies have around 50+ health, making the accessory a more consistent drop to reward harder gamemodes.

@xenoblademaster13 the buffs given by each tier scale up, but this accessory isn't meant to completely carry you through the game. Also, depending on the tier of your accessory you might be dealing with sunlight weakness. While on the surface layer during daytime, all benefits granted by the vampiric blood accessory are halved. This effect persists until you craft the final ultimate blood version of the accessory with a moon stone. After traversing to the underground layer and below, you will receive the full benefits of the accessory regardless of time of day.

@venti, can you tell me what other accessories you have equipped, as well as if you can replicate it with only the vamparism mod enabled? As it stands, I am not able to replicate this bug in isolation. I've tried with flails, vampire knives, and every other weapon that has been mentioned thus far. Even learned that your standard shortsword that attacks horizontally is considered a melee projectile oddly enough.

As it stands, something else must be messing with the lifesteal value that is assigned to the player. What is likely happening is that another mod item or buff that is enabled is setting the player's lifesteal value to -1, which is the only way I can imagine this being the case.
