Melanin Curve

Description
Allows custom distributions of melanin along a curve.

Melanin (the determining factor of skin tone) is a decimal number between 0 and 1. This mod takes the normal randomly-generated melanin value and uses that to calculate a melanin value based on a curve defined off of points in the mod settings.

Ah, well I asked cause I have a character that looks white, (maybe Asian?) but is hated fo having a different skin color so I was confused

An already-generated pawn? You could edit it in the save, but it wouldn't change the skin tone, since that's calculated when the pawn is made off of the melanin value. You'd need to use character editor or something if you want to change skin tone.

SO can you change a pawns melanin level in game?

Yes, if you make the curve lower you could do that. Something like
0, 0
0.2, 0.15
0.4, 0.3
0.6, 0.45
0.8, 0.6
1, 1
would squeeze most of the melanin down. I should probably change the labels in the mod settings to make it more clear they're coordinates defining a curve (however the game handles it, honestly idk and idc, so long as it works) where x is the random melanin value the game generates and y is the output melanin.

Ah, so you can make certain colors rarer but without removing them? It actually seems to be more realistic this way. I'll probably replace White Only then.

Yeah, I'm familiar with white only. This mod works with a curve, so you can adjust the probability of certain skin tones without outright eliminating them if you wanted, or you could set it up to work practically the same as that mod.

What's the difference between this and the White Only mod? (despite the name, it's actually highly customizible)

Ok, cool! I'll play around with it see how it goes. Even though it was always funny to have a black klansman join the colony lol

It looks like it just goes off of if melanin is greater than .5, but visually that's still pretty light-skinned if you look at it. If that's the case then this mod won't really help, although you could kick up the values past .5 to make the pawns that would spawn that that mod would consider dark-skinned tend to actually have darker skin.

Yeah, because from what Ive experienced with that mod sometimes the skin tones and the mood mood modifer wouldnt match with the skin.Which led to some funny moments lol
