Description
SBS (SeaBoss Systems) CHIMERA Mk.I Patrol Boat (Challenger Edition)

Built for the Mr NJersey Patrol Boat Challenge. The CHIMERA sports a fully traversing CONTROL POD linked to a Weapons Turret mounting a Heavy Autocannon, Light Autocannon and 2 Machine Guns. The patrol boat is capable of speeds of 60 knots but still allows for tight manoeuvring using a twin screw clutch differential system.

FEATURES
  • Two Large Diesels capable of 60 knots with both active and 38 knots if one should become disabled
  • 5800L fuel tank allowing for a range of ~100km at 80% throttle (42 knots)
  • Two Steering Modes - Manual (A/D) or Slave to Turret (Mouse Control). With Slave the CHIMERA will steer in the direction of the CONTROL POD Turret which is controlled via the Mouse
  • Weapons - 1 Heavy Autocannon with 80 rounds racked and 80 rounds in stowage, 1 Light Autocannon with 400 rounds racked and 400 rounds stowage, 2 Machine Guns with 8 extra boxes
  • Targeting - the weapons can either be used manually, in 3rd Person Mode or with Ranging Assist (either Laser or Radar). Ranging assist utilizes a ballistic calculator to assist the guns with distancing. Ranging is done in the following priority order: Heavy AC -> Light AC -> MG. For example, if you MGs are enable and then you enable the HAC then the ranging mode will move to accomodate the ballistics of the HAC. If both RADAR and Laser are turned on RADAR will have priority. With RADAR it detects vehicles that are in a narrow cone lined up with the reticle (which is alligned with the barrels of the guns). When an item is detected the system will show the range to the target and paint a red circle over the target on the HUD. 3rd Person Mode adjusts the mouse look Y numbers so that you are able to get a better view. It is not useful when in 1st Person.
  • SUPPORT SYSTEMS: Multi-band radio, Heater, Two Fire Taps on the outside deck (FWD and AFT), Equipment Stores in access crawl space

CONTROLS
  • W/S - Throttle
  • A/D - Key Board Steering
  • UP - Turn on Visible Targetting Laser
  • DOWN - Turn on "Slave to Turret Direction" Steering
  • LEFT - Turn on Laser Distance Ranging (supported by Ballistics Calculator for Range)
  • RIGHT - Turn on RADAR Distance Ranging (supported by Ballistics Calculator for Range)
  • 1 - Enable Machine Guns
  • 2 - Enable Light Autocannon
  • 3 - Enable Heavy Autocannon
  • 4 - Turn on Third Person Targetting.
  • 5 - Disable Mouse Controls and allow for Mouse Look only
  • 6 - Set Engine Systems to Reverse

To Start the Engines turn the key in the Roof Panel to activate both engines. Throttle controls are at the CONTROL POD station (W/S on Keyboard)

came back took 3 helis out a boat and 2 tanks
i added 2 extra drums for more fire time

i took over gantry in this beast ran out of ammo so had to retreat after shooting an heli and boat and attempted jet down

Hi Zyzz. I just tested it out and everything seems to be working normal. You start the Chimera Engines with the Key in the ceiling and then use W/S to Increase and Decrease the throttle. If the engines aren't on the throttle goes to 0 and it can't be adjusted.

I love this vehicle! Original and cool idea, well made and simply fun. Sadly, the radar function shouldn't be just like in War Thunder, telling you where to aim, as it is very unreliable here in Stormworks. Instead, it'd be cool to have the turret firing and aiming automatically, when activating the radar function. But that's really it, good work!

Hi I'm A Lasagna. The jitter is caused by the turret loosing sight of the Targeting Laser (mounted on the CONTROL POD) so the TURRET switches to a position where it's matching the POD's rotation and elevation until it can find the Laser Point again. Tracking the target laser allows for the uun site to be in synch with POD HUD (shows as green square). When it is in Match Mode (TURRET is matching POD) the square is yellow. The targeting will be slightly off then as the TURRET target point is not ideally synched with the POD. This will happen typically when the POD rotates completely to the rear and the Laser is blocked or if you AIM at something closer then it moves to water where the Laser Point will either disappear or go to a spot much farther away.
