Class War - A Board Game of Political Economy

Description
--OPEN BETA--

Class War - A Board Game of Political Economy

Class War is an asymmetrical, cooperative board game in which players take on the role of bourgeois titans of industry, each scheming to expand their profits and weather the coming crises of capitalism.

Bourgeois players cooperate to control the government while competing for monopoly. Command labor, invest in property, issue frivolous litigation, and divide the workers against each other! Total automation awaits; just make sure you eliminate your competitors first!

But whenever a bourgeois player is ruined, they fall into the working class. As more and more of the bourgeoisie is forced into the ranks of the universal proletariat, the victory of the workers becomes assured! Right?

Proletarian players are united against the bourgeoisie. Raise class consciousness, unionize workers, go on strike, lead a revolt, and seize the means of production! Expropriate the expropriators before they automate you out of existence!

By the way, syndicalism is a joke that is incapable of working in reality. The Soviet Union with its state capitalism tried to experiment with syndicalism and it does not work.

The entire class struggle exists only in your imagination and in the fantasies of your prophets. The fact that you people of different types of activity have only one single task - to oppress you, only emphasizes how sick you are.

Pathetic Marxist propaganda. In communist states the main source of oppression is the state and officials, you exchange capitalists for another class and that's it. The fact that your religion is purely a source of oppression is a comedy.

It's fairly easy to just run the game yourself with a single capitalist and a single revolutionary.

I'm curious if the idea of a solo mode is possible.

v1.0 with updated art and a more streamlined board is up.
The rulebook needs to be brought in line with v1.0, but patch notes can be viewed on the Discord in the meanwhile.

Good to know! keep working. I think commodity gamble is a bit op now as you can easily roll into huge wealth. Insider info also gives risk free returns. I dont see anything that could stop a monopolist who turns its money stash 1.5 times every, on average, two rounds.

Yes, we are still working on this project, primarily on game balance!

Players have been testing on our Discord, so we've been getting a lot of ideas on how to improve the game.

We have also notice that new players tend to crash capitalism pretty early, focusing on backstabbing each other rather than industrialization!

On turn 0, we are taking a look at speeding things up. Starting on the Action Phase would help, but it would skip the first Policy pick. This may not be a loss, as the narrative could be that players are starting on the Cycle where the Inclosure Acts Policy was passed.

Also, we are looking into "Scenarios" for advanced players where you start with a suite of unique Policies already in play, so you can jump straight into the middle of a complex economy!

In terms of game balance, it seems that proliferators do not have much options against burgeons who accumulated mass funds through commodity market and totally dont need to rely on any production to endure the rest of the game.

I hope you're still working on this, @nonalienatedproductions. My friends and I have not lost interest in this at all.
