I cannot really continue to maintain the mods and want to pass them on.
If you want to take my mods maintain and maybe improve them please write me a message or comment.
I try to fix them from time to time on request but no warranty how long that takes i have no resources to do it frequently.

Description


A hotter version of Nuclear Power where you can build your own reactor instead of having it only as single building.

It features two new buildings:

A Nuclear power rod which is a tile that generates heat and radioactivity depending on how much uranium is loaded and how radioactive the environment is. the heat is building overtime the Power Plant needs to heat up several cycles before you really can use it.

A new hot steam turbine which generates power depending on how much steam is present and how hot it is.
It has no limit on max temperature and does not overheat but it also has a low Efficiency and does generate less power from the same heat as the normal turbine.

Get Radium

To get radium you need an external mod. Since some other mods that used to supply radium stopped working i refined Challenge Collection to provide radium. To make it work install Challenge Collection and when creating a new game under Game Settings -> Extra Settings Click 3 times right then in Transform Templates click 2 times right. This will get some of the map uranium being generated as radium instead.

Troubleshoot

Steam does right now a real mess with mods.
Updates does not work properly. If the mods do not work first use the mod updater.
If the modupdater does not update too you have to download it manually from https://github.com/peterhaneve/ONIMods/releases/ModsLatest
extract ModUpdateDate to \Documents\Klei\OxygenNotIncluded\mods\dev (create if not there)
If the mod does not work after an Update leave a comment, the mods are not actively monitored.

Recycling that pesky Depleted Uranium and Nuclear Waste should be a very nice thing to have - apart from Radium, which is a subject on its own, I think that the nuclear fuel reprocessing could give a pretty straightforward crafting chain.

Like X depleted uranium + Y nuclear waste (let's imagine it as Plutonium) + Z refined carbon (graphite pellets would be prettier, Ronivan's Chemical Processing mod has Graphite in it IIRC) + W clay/ceramic for roleplaying the outer fuel vessel + Q oxygen/oxilite/fertilizer for voloxidation = K enriched uranium (let's imagine it as some MOX rods) + some kind of waste byproduct(s).

But ... I'm not very good at brainstorming recipes & co., after all - sorry!

I consider to add some receipes to refine nuclear stuff as example to get radium or to refine depleted uranium or nuclear waste, however i have not decided on the exact recipes. Any suggestions or wishes?

I did debuff the mod a while ago decreasing the amount of heat generated while increasing the amount of fuel consumed. I came now around to compare it to the original test reactor and i think i debuffed it too far, so i undid the debuff the fuel rods will be now much stronger again be careful not to burn something valuable if you created a reactor without safetys and remember if you want to deconstruct a fuel rod you need to cool it down so the fuel does not melt.

are you referring to the "Nuclear Processing" mod?
i think that mod had some buildings that produced radium, but it was sadly removed some months ago...

i will look into your challenge collection mod, thanks for the hint :)

It is obtainable by other mods, some nuclear refining mod but i dont recall the name and also by my challenge collection where you can set it so radium is spawned at start or over time in the world.
