The "typical" example is the tragic episode around 1200 BC. J.-C.: the "peoples of the sea" upset all the political balances of the Near East: disappearance of the Hittites, fall of Assyria, troubled period in Egypt.
These "people of the sea" come from Europe.
They are hunted by European populations from countries further north. Agriculture becoming impossible there, these populations invade the regions further south and they "push" the other populations into bloody battles. It is then a game of dominoes, where the populations chase each other from their territory, until the Peoples of the Sea, who come to invade other countries.
Climate changes are manifold. These changes are due to multiple factors, such as huge volcanic eruptions, linked to plate tectonics: I am thinking for example of Africa, with the emergence of the mountains of Ethiopia and the Red Sea coast, which causes the modification of the course of the Nile, which becomes what it is today (previously, the Nile flowed horizontally and threw itself into the Mediterranean towards the Lybo-Tunisian border). It was around 7000 BPC that the populations of the Middle East passed into Egypt, because before that, the Nile delta was under water.
The P.I.E. have a very basic agriculture. And it is each time that the growing conditions become difficult (climate), that cannibalism appears. This is illustrated at the Neolithic site of Herxheim, in Germany.
The P.I.E., probably originating from Anatolia, progress at the rate of 1km per year. The diffusion of their way of life is much faster than this "conquest". Because certain populations of hunter-gatherers adopt this way of life and propagate it in turn. This explains the “lightning” progress of the P.I.E.
This shows that there have been many exchanges between these "two" populations: we all have traces of them inscribed in our genes (see the numerous genetic studies published).
That said, I am surprised to read that there was no trade between European hunter-gatherer populations before the arrival of the Proto-Indo-Europeans (P.I.E).
There were exchanges between these different populations of hunter-gatherers. It is seen with amber that is found in places where it does not exist.
It is also surprising to read that the villages do not evolve. It would be wrong to believe that the P.I.E. brought everything to Europe. On the contrary: they learned a lot from these local hunter-gatherers who were always curious to meet these strange farmers.
