Omaha beach
June 6th 1944

Version 8.0
RECENT UPDATE: Monday 19th May 2025

Re-live the horrors of the American landing on Omaha beach with the US 1st and 29th Infantry Division or take part in the defence of the beach with the 352nd German Infantry Division.

6th June 1944
Land on Dog Green or further along on Dog White.

Mission: Get off the beach, re-group and fight your way up Cota's Draw to the top of the 130 foot high bluff near Hamel - Au –Pretre.
Take the defended positions of: WN 70, then 71 and then down to WN 72 ( D1 - Vierville draw 1 beach exit ).

Later in the battle, Rangers and members of the 116th will land on Charlie Beach to the west of you and to the west of the Draw D1 Exit. Joining forces they will climb up the cliffs then advanced through WN73 down towards you at WN72.

Regroup and Continue to fight on from WN72 ( D1 Exit), up the beach road to reach the church in Vierville-sur-Mer to finally secure the beach head.
Note: WN in German means Wiederstandnest, which means nest of resistance (a German strongpoint).

This map is as near as possible - historically and geographically correct within the constraints of the original version with the old prop type terrain graphics.

If you enjoyed playing “OMAHA BEACH” – YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN THE FOLLOWING:

D-Day – Sword Beach:
You will need to Subscribe and download the “test sword” map and then subscribe to one of the following 4 missions currently available for the Sword Beach landings in order:
V1 - is No. 4 Commando
V2 - is 2nd East York’s
V3 – is 1st SSB Commandos
V4 – is 1st Suffolk Regiment

This Normandy map is to scale and is historically and geographically correct for 1944, as are the location of the towns and all the German strong points with all their defences.
Numerous Bigot maps were produced by the RAF aerial reconnaissance and Intel from the French Resistance, (these Bigot maps were actually used by British commanders during the landing on the beaches).
Also used were historical accounts, locations and pictures of battles, many videos and information sources were used over many months to develop the accuracy of this map.

Missions:
You will follow in the footsteps of 4 individual British units above and land in Queen Sector of Sword Beach at different times and follow the same route they took on the day.

Everything you see and experience as you fight your way off the beach to your objective is factual and has been accurately placed, and so you will experience what it would have been like to have been a soldier in that specific unit throughout the day.

NOTE: V3 and V4 will not see any action until they get further in land.
Hope you enjoy the realism.

But what kind of mod and your excuse you still haven't answered me. Besides I'm waiting for your answer. I tried your mission but frankly there are few German units. It seems to play a really basic map, I expected. Much more spectacular. I repeat, there are few German troops, I don't understand where the advantage of playing your mod lies.

There is at least one phase where there are no respawn options (I think it's 8 or 9?) you had just finished taking to top of the hill and were pushing back down to the beach on the far edge with destroyed houses on either side.

I like this very much because its long and there are more landing crafts than the original campaign

Thank you Volpe/Pinne for informing me of this problem, if you could please be so kind and let me know were the Phases and locations are causing this issue.
Volpeusz 3 Apr @ 5:48am
overall cool but there are phases where you literally cannot spawn as allies and i refuse to belive its intended

As it was on D Day - - US troops now sadly spend a lot more time getting off the landing beach.
