Description
ON NEXUS : https://www.nexusmods.com/mechwarrior5mercenaries/mods/462/

REQUIRES MOD OPTIONS: https://www.nexusmods.com/mechwarrior5mercenaries/mods/537

ArmorGreen changes the function that is responsible for the health colors on the paperdoll of you, your allies, and your enemies for greatly improved accuracy in determining how healthy or damaged something is. As you can see by the gradients in the example image, the vanilla colors have a LOT of red, making it impossible to tell if something has 1% HP or 40% HP.

Users can change between 3 presets via Mod Options, or you can customize the key:value pairs yourself with the 4th Custom option and an ini that shows up in %LocalAppData%/MW5Mercs/Saved/Config/ArmorGreen.ini. Observe formatting etiquette and you can use whatever colors you want at whatever thresholds.

ABOUT CO-OP UNLOCKED: https://www.nexusmods.com/mechwarrior5mercenaries/mods/706

Co-op Unlocked is the only known mod that that conflicts with ArmorGreen, both changing Ui_Utils.uasset. However, it is completely safe to have ArmorGreen overwrite Co-op Unlocked. The only feature that is lost is Mech nickname visibility for clients in multiplayer.

CHANGE LOG

7/12/2021 UPDATE: An alternate version has been made to truncate the Blue to put Green at the top of the colors. This means that Yellow has been moved to 55%. This alternate version can be downloaded via the Nexus link under Optional Files.

7/18/2021 UPDATE: I don't know why, but people wanted a version that starts at yellow, like vanilla. But with the smoother gradient unlike vanilla so red will be at 10% unlike the vanilla 40%. The "Vanillaish" version can be downloaded via the Nexus link under Optional Files.

7/24/2021 UPDATE: Good news everyone! I have successfully managed to make a (really brutal) Config file! Now end-users can customize what colors are used and when they show up to their liking! Download the new file and run the game with it, a new file will be added under C:\MW5Config\ArmorGreen.ini. Please observe the formatting etiquette as described or it may break.

7/26/2021 UPDATE: Fixed embarrassing issue of the function reading the config file every time it's called. This should improve framerates, but the method used spawns an actor on the field to hold the variables. God forbid I can't just type in "static". Will need testing in multiplayer.

9/23/2021 UPDATE: Updated mod to work with the new Kestral DLC update. The Mod Tools killed my source files so I had to remake it almost from scratch. Fingers crossed. As a side note, the old versions will no longer work, no alternate files available, sorry. Gotta do the Config thing now.

6/8/2022 UPDATE: Updated mod to work with the new Call to Arms DLC update. I think. I didn't actually test it lol, I'd have to redownload the whole game again and, bruh... Luckily this time it wasn't as painful as last time and the update went smoothly. Thank god.

6/10/2022 UPDATE: Updated mod to work with the new Call to Arms DLC update. This time for sure. Sorry for the wait. They say a poor craftsman blames his tools, and here I am.

1/28/2023 UPDATE: Updated mod to work with the new Rasal DLC update. Keeping well? You know people like your mod when you get a dozen comments saying it bork. Anyway, here you go.

1/31/2023 UPDATE: You like Mod Options? Here you go. You can now change presets via Mod Options. But if you still like full control, the .ini file has been moved to %LocalAppData%/MW5Mercs/Saved/Config/ArmorGreen.ini. So move your old file there and you should be golden. Remember that you need to load a new map, or restart the mission, for preset changes to take place.

9/29/2023 UPDATE: Updated for to work with the new Dragon DLC update. Fairly painless update, all things considered. I haven't been keeping up with everything, so if there's more problems, hit me up. Be advised that I changed the Mod Options numbers so the mod defaults to the ini, so double check your Mod Options config.

9/30/2023 UPDATE: A comma broke Mod Options support, lol...

11/6/2024 UPDATE: Updated to, uh, "work with the new Solaris DLC update." Probably not necessary, it worked fine before except for a little missing icon. So this is really a "Oh crap I forgot about this report from March" and a "just in case" update. I changed the project name (again) back to ArmorGreen so double check if it's still enabled in the Mod List. With any luck, this should be the final update.

9/6/2025 UPDATE: Updated to work with the new Kerensky DLC update. If it didn't take me an hour to update this, then I think I got a consistent, working plan to update. You think if we ask kindly enough they'll implement this mod officially into MW6? Lol...

9/7/2025 UPDATE: I used an old backup which didn't have Mod Options support, so, uh, fixed that now.

A simple but incredibly useful QOL mod. Thank you for making this.

You know your mod is good when you wish it would have been included in the base game.

This is so much more how I wished they implemented armor coloring. thanks for the update

@Firefly, I'm not colorblind and i still think your mod should have been baked into the game on day 0. If i was colorblind i would say the game would be litteraly unplayable without your mod. The fact they used shades of yellow-orange-red to indicate status baffles me, it seems so stupidly obvious that its a crappy design. So yeah, not only mandatory, but absolute common sense to me, i wouldn't play without it!

I really appreciate the kind words, I may not say anything, but it's a weird feeling to see people say "ay yo your mod is borderline mandatory". Thanks again~.

@Firefly -- Well, here we are again after another update! Sorry they keep making the game more and more built out and forcing you to continue to make it awesome, but you are so appreciated Firefly. :)

Just wanted to take the time out to, again, say that. Thank you for not only making this mod, but all your years of keeping up with support of it!

Yes, Mod Options is only a soft requirement, and Mod Options itself should still work. ArmorGreen uses the ini setting by default, which adds an ini file to %LocalAppData%/MW5Mercs/Saved/Config/ArmorGreen.ini, you can adjust colors freely from there as long as you use the right syntax.

Does it work even if mod-options is outdated? Last update to it was in june.

I broke mod options, I fixed mod options.
