River class Ironclad

The Siddarmarkian theater also saw the first action of the River Class Ironclads during the Great Canal Raid. A squadron of these powerful ironclads systematically destroyed all locks on a vast section of the Holy Langhorne canal, cutting off the supplies to Arch-Bishop Militant Dynnys Turnyr's Army of Chihiro, which was subsequently surrounded and destroyed by the CEF's 3rd Field Army. They subsequently saw much service over the mainland. Though more powerful than any sailing ship, their lack of a sailing rig and small coal bunkers restricted their cruising distance and made them of limited utility for oceanic scale aero-combat. It was their larger sisters of the City class that would first prowl the oceanic skies of Safehold. In the meantime, the 8 and 6.5 inch rifled guns of the River Class provided close fire support to many an embattled Charisian Marine, broke many a defensive line, and overall hastened the Charisian victory.
