Destiny class Frigate

With the concept of suspendium-lofted ships proved by the Armageddon Reef campaign, the Charisians took their "heretical" designs to a new level. Sporting the same innovative new rig as their war-galleons, the Destiny class frigates served Charis well right up to the end of the Jihad. It was ships like these, with brooms lashed to their mast-tops, that swept the seas--and later the skies--clean of most organized resistance. Hostile warships were blasted apart by fire from the new model artillery carried aboard them, or by the lethal new rockets developed by the Charisians. Throughout the Jihad, these ships were renowned for their speed, agility, firepower, and long cruising range. It was only in the final parts of the Jihad, when Church-Aligned forces began fielding rifled artillery and their own proper aero-galleons, that it became apparent that the day of the sky-going sailing warship had come to an end. The destruction seen in the battle of Shipworm Shoal between large fleets of aero-ships of the Royal Dohlaran and Imperial Charisian Navies was a stern message to any observer that the destructive potential of modern weaponry had far outpaced the ability of mere wood and canvas dust tanks to withstand damage.
