Lost with all hands! On March 8, 1968 the Soviet Golf-Class Submarine K-129 was lost with all hands deep in the Pacific Ocean. 6 years later in one of the most Ambitious covert operations in history, the CIA partially raised the sunken sub. Here's my replica of a Soviet Project 629-Class Submarine, know by NATO as the Golf-Class.

SHIP STATS:

Length: 34.25m

Top Speed: 10.8kn (cruising speed is 4-6kn)

Diesel Range(at cruising speed): 60km

Battery Range(at cruising speed): 10km

Crew: 5(1 officer)

Armament: 2 Torpedoes, 2 SLBMs

Functional Periscope

Functional Autopilot and AutoDepth

Function Rescue Buoy

INTERIOR SPACES(Forward to Aft):

Compartment 1:
-Torpedo Room

Compartment 2:
-Command Center

Compartment 3:
-Officer's Mess
-Captain's Quarters
-Bathroom
-Crew Bunks

Compartment 4:
-Diesel Engine Room

STARTING THE VESSEL
Once you descended the ladder from the top of the conning tower, you will arrive in the command center. Advance the lever labeled "Diesel Engine Throttle" to at least 55%. Then proceed through the hatch in the back of the Command room towards the back of the boat.

Once you've arrived in the engine room, turn the 2 keys labeled "Port Engine Pumps" & "Starboard Engine Pumps". Once those Keys are activated, press the buttons labeled "Port Engine Starter" & "Starboard Engine Starter". Then Return to the Command Center.

Once back in the command Center, Advance the "Electric Motor Throttle" lever located next to the Helm and the boat should start moving.

DIVING THE VESSEL
From the Command Center, Input your target depth into the depth computer located opposite of the helm. Then press the buttons labeled "Fill Forward Ballast Tanks" and "Fill Aft Ballast Tanks". Then, while the Ballast Tanks are filling up, lower the lever labeled "Diesel Engine Throttle" to zero. Once the Ballast tanks are mostly full, press the "Autodepth" button to dive the submarine.

I highly recommend proceeding to the engine room at some point to shut down the engine pumps to conserve battery.

SURFACING THE VESSEL
Press the 2 buttons labeled "Empty Forward Ballast Tanks" & "Empty Aft Ballast Tanks", then set the autodepth target for 0 and the sub should surface.

FIRING THE TORPEDOES
From the torpedo room, Turn the key labeled "Fill Torpedo Tube". Once the tube has been filled with water, Turn the key labeled "Tube Hatch". With the hatch open and the tube flooded, press the button labeled "Fire Torpedo". After the Torpedo has been fired, turn the key labeled "Tube Hatch" to close the outer doors & turn the key labeled "Empty Torpedo Tube".

LAUNCHING THE BALLISTIC MISSILES
NOTE: SURFACE THE SUB PRIOR TO FIRING
Once on the surface input the missile code(which is just the number 5) into one of the keypads labeled "Launch Code Input". Once the code is input, turn the key labeled "Raise Missile". This will open the silo doors and raise the missile into its firing position.

Once the missile is raised the cover on the "Launch Missile" button will open. Press this button to start the 15 second countdown. The missile will launch automatically when the timer reaches 0.

Turn the Key Labeled "Raise Missile" back to the off position to close the missile hatches. Make sure these are closed before diving the submarine.

SHIP HISTORY
The Project 629-Class submarines were developed as a quick response to the American George Washington-Class Submarines. While the diesel electric powered 629-Class were nowhere near as capable as the nuclear powered George Washington-Class, they did provide the Soviets with some sea-going Ballistic Missile Capability while the nuclear powered Hotel-Class was being developed. NATO would nickname the Project 629-Class subs the "Golf"-Class.

Based off the earlier Project 641-Class, the Project 629-Class was built as a quick and cheap ballistic missile submarine while the Soviets focused on building more advanced SSBNs. The Golf-Class originally carried a small contingent of R-11 missiles (which are more commonly known by their NATO Name, SCUD), however later in the class' service these were upgraded to R-13 missiles.

In 1968 K-129, a submarine of this class, was lost in the Pacific. After weeks of searching the Soviet Navy declared the sub lost and called off the search. The CIA was later able to locate and photograph the wreck. A few years later they would return with the covert salvage ship, The Hughes Glomar Explorer, and salvage a section of the submarine's bow.

A single modified Project 629-Class submarine is still in service with the Chinese Navy for testing purposes.

NOTES
-I recommend surfacing the vessel when the battery reaches about 40-30%(about 7km at cruising speed) to ensure you have enough power to surface the boat.

-It takes roughly 30 minutes to fully charge the battery from 5% while fully stopped, it takes 40 minutes at cruising speed.

This does not work anymore I believe. Unfortunately I think a recent update ruined it. Everything runs fine except it does not give propulsion

So this might be dead but uuuh... as soon as I opened the code safe or the bathroom water started pouring out of them lmao, as if they'd filled to the brim with seawater before I got to them. It's quite funny but I think there may be some leaks here and there.

SpotLight, 5 is the correct missile code, Once you have input the propper missile code and turned the key labeled "Raise Missile", It take about 60 seconds to open the missile hatch and raise the missile into the launch position. Once the missile is raised and in launch position, the cover on the button labeled "Launch Missile" will open. Pressing that button starts a 15 second countdown then launches the missile.
