Intentional Smelting

Description
This changes the way furnaces work by preventing them from automatically smelting everything possible once you click the "start" button, and allowing you to select what you want to have produced like other crafting stations. There is also a slight balance change to the Heat-Efficient Furnace. You now unlock higher-level smelting recipes as you learn higher-level furnace and tool feats.

NOTE:
The recipe changes that used to be included in this mod can now be found here.

Absolutely love the mod, a perfect and much needed addition! :winter2019happydog:Has anyone managed to get it to work with Beyond Stations, however? BS doesn't have a comments section, and discord is never letting me join to ask them, was hoping some of you had found a fix!

After some additional testing, I did find a very minor compatibility "issue". Figured I'd mention it here just in case it helps anyone else out.

For anyone using both this mod and StaticNoize's Expanded MultiTools (mod id 2568751445), you'll want to make sure you have Intentional Smelting appear AFTER MultiTools in the modlist. Otherwise, the recipe for Iron Bar might disappear from the furnaces. After I figured out which mod it was and moved MT above IS in modlist.txt, Iron Bar was back next time I loaded up my saved game.

Just loaded it back in and did a real quick retest before bed. Hardened Bricks seemed to be working via recipe now on existing games. Tried it on SP and on dedicated, both worked fine for me.

Thanks for the awesome mod and for the super fast update!

I added the Hardened Brick recipe to the initial Blacksmithing feat; please let me know if anything else is missing.

Can confirm the Hardened Brick issue mentioned by The Fozz. Playing on Exiled Lands with dedicated server. I'm not sure which feat it was (I think I have all of the ones The Fozz mentioned) but.. With the mod, I get the nice recipes but no Hardened Brick. Removing the mod, I can craft Hardened Brick without issue but I really miss the nice recipes.

Shame... I really really love this mod but looks like I'll have to pull it for now and hope for an update.

Sorry meant Master Blacksmith feat not Improved Furnace

Hey Hardened Brick isn't showing up for me unfortunately. Based on your conversation with Martins and the change notes for the last update to the mod I searched feats to check I hadn't missed it somehow but it doesn't seem to be listed anywhere. I'm guessing it's meant to be with the Blacksmith or Improved Furnace feats based on what you've done for with the other materials? The wiki lists it as a tier 2 alongside normal brick and iron so Furnace maybe?

I think the higher level feats don't actually grant the recipe per se.
Even a lvl 1 character is able to stuff iron and steelfire in a furnace and get steel.
But the Intentional Smelting interface does not have the recipes for higher tier materials.
I'm not even sure what mechanism the game uses to give the recipe to the player. The iron bar recipe does appear in a feat, but even without that feat, you can still smelt it. Rather curious.
If you can't find a simple fix for it, simply place all recipes on the interface. It doesn't really break progression because you still need the relevant feats to actually craft anything with the higher-tier bars.

I'll have to update the mod to include the Iron Sickle in its appropriate place; it modifies the feat that grants the recipe. For the other smelting recipes, have you checked the other tool and smithing feats? The higher-level metals require higher-level feats to unlock their recipes. Unfortunately I probably won't have time to update the mod until the new year because this is a very busy time at work.

Upon further testing: I also cannot smelt Steel, Hardned steel, Gold or Silver. Possibly Starmetal, but I didn't check for that. It's a shame. Your mod was the only thing that kept reminding me that I could bake bread in my furnaces. Please update, I loved how it worked!
