Progressive Upgrades

Description
The weapon upgrade anvil upgrades weapons one level at a time. Inspired by Tier Upgrade, but slightly more overengineered.

While I enjoyed Tier Upgrade, I had a few minor complaints about it; rather than pester someone about their (at the time) four-year-old mod, I made my own.

Features:
  • Uses the base game's "upgradeLevel" config parameter, as well as the "weaponEssenceValue" function, so mods that change the upgrade level or essence costs don't have to be made with this mod in mind.
  • Uses a new "upgradeLevelOffsets" config parameter to allow certain weapons to have a modifier applied to their effective upgradeLevel; this mod gives the Protectorate Broadsword and Lazercaster an offset of 1, allowing them to keep their status as having the highest level (although note that you'll need a mod to make them upgradable in the first place, as well as increase the upgradeLevel)
  • NEW! Instead of continually adding stars, whenever it would add two or more stars to a name it draws a multiplier instead (see the preview image).
  • NEW! Item list is populated by the shortdescription from parameters (if available), so it's easier to tell when you're upgrading an already-upgraded weapon without having to check the essence cost.
  • NEW! Less inefficient compare function prevents the upgrade anvil from breaking as easily just because a weapon has a moderate number of parameters.
  • NEW! Fetches upgradeParameters from parameters, if provided, allowing modders to make "gradually" upgrading weapons.

Goes well with Upgraded Upgrades.

Clear. Thank you!

It's listed as required because it is required; the script does the actual work, while this mod merely sets settings to make the script to work on the vanilla upgrade anvil. I separated the two like this so that a modder wanting to just use the script can do so, while still letting players take advantage of it by using this mod.

Apologies - a question to clear my confusion: If i just use the vanilla weapon upgrade anvil, I only need this mod, not the Required Item "Progressive Upgrades - Script" - is that correct?

Very cool additions to the weapon upgrades. Love the mod friendly and vanilla friendly nature. Thank you for creating it.

None taken.

That makes sense. I meant no offense.

Being able to tell, at a glance, how many times you've upgraded a weapon was one of my design goals; feel free to edit the script yourself to get rid of the multiplier, though.

The only thing I don't really like is the multiplier next to the star but that is a silly minor thing. Great work!
