Colonial Viper (Ground Based)

Description
***UPDATE!***
The new update has allowed me to install MAGNETIC RETRACTS on this ship, rendering both the ground-based and carrier-based versions obsolete! You can find the upgraded versions here, and here...

This is my 2nd attempt at a Viper. I Tried to bring elements of my first build (the Saber) into the design. Even though the Saber is heavy, I love the lines. I tried to incorporate the lessons learned from the Saber as I went about making a new, VERY light, agile fighter.

This viper has two sets of controls:
1) Athmospheric Flight
2) Space Flight

If you know how to manage your thrust override you can make it to orbit on very little fuel. Make sure all of one set of controls are off before switching to the other or thruster groups tend to get a bit mixed up.

It IS survival capable, but it's range and flight time is SEVERELY limited in atmosphere. It would be a fair planetary interceptor, but it really shines in space!

This sports my retractable landing gear. If they get out of sequence, just set all hinges to "hinge lock on" and the landing gear will be right back on sequence.
I like to have a looooong, wide air strip; I frequently land this thing in excess of 90 kph. I touch down at a descent rate between -1 and -3 kph to avoid taking damage.

It has NO connector block. In order to save space for hydrogen it uses a hinge block piece for a refueling coupler. I have service vehicles designed to link up and fuel my builds so I don't have to put connector blocks on my aircraft. Feel free to design your own!

All of my fighters are primarily ground based, so if you will be using this on a carrier (as all Vipers should) you will want the "Carrier Ops" version.

Tip: Make sure there's Ice in the cargo containers.

Many Thanx to [XGN] XLency for showing me what a real Viper should be.
