Ore Mapping Stock Star System (OMSSS) by ///

Description
Apex update ok 13 sep 2025

Why:

Have you ever searched for Coblat/Silver or Gold for hours ?

Requirements:

Being on solo game/multiplayer with in game script enabled (aka Programming Block enabled).

-1 ship controller (cockpit, remote control,....)

-1 programming block

Being on a planet

How:

Join a game and build a grid that fulfill the requrements.

Load the script and click Run.

Check the Custom Data of the Programming Block.

Settings:

Just one: the range at which to generate at the very start of the script. :)

Works on:

EarthLike ok
Triton ok
Alien ok

Mars ok

Moon ok
Europa ok
Titan ok

Pertam yes with a lot/only false positives (some areas have none except rocks).

Frequently Asked Questions:
-Does it works on asteroids ?
>No, it can't. It only works on the planets.
>Also it does not scan anything, this is based on "data mining".

-Does it works on the deep ore mod ?
> Yes, if the mods are only changing the depth of the ores.
> If a mod changes the location though, it is useless.

-Does it only works on stock planets ?
>Yes, as long the location don't change through a mod, you either:
> don't find anything because of a mod disable some ore spots
>find the predicted ore.

Last updates done:

internal to the script: Removing the not so meaningful digits

Now the output results is easier to humans

>GPSs might seems do duplicate but that would be because of already recorded GPSs.

fix in one ore forecast for EarthLike Alien and Tritton

24/7/24: fixed a bug (for all planets) that was very obvious for Pertam.
27/7/24: working on a fix for two faces for Pertam (Up and Down are rotated 90 clockwise)
28/7/24: fixed the formula for two faces between planets and optimization to allow for way lower ICs
14/10/24:seems ok after contact update

i tried the script on Triton on a server that allows Pb but it says planet unidentified and doesn't give me any GPS cords why?

oh good it works with deep ores

Nothing showing up in Custom Data. I assume because of a mod or something the server uses. But in the program data screen, it shows a bunch of what looks like GPS coordinates. Is it just not pushing that data to Custom Data, or is that part of the background program's searching? I mean, if I went there, would I find some kind of ore?

Would it be possible to add a way to set a minimum range? i've looked at the code and it should be pretty easy i think

So, I assume this only works with the stock star system seed?

does this work with the deep ores mod ?

nice , now if there was a way to have this work in space to scan multiple asteroids in the same range. :D

Great Skript! Very helpful for beginners

Ah, cool. So it would pinpoint the correct location relative the the planets centre but just not the right depth. Thanks!

If you were talking about this one:

yes the spots don't change just the elevation you will find them. I just tested with one spot on Mars with cobalt at about 400m deep.
