Description
USA with Cities and Industries. Megalomaniac size, 170:1, made with real heightmaps.

This uses industries based on actual US agricultural, manufacturing and other statistics. Placement is based on major industrial centers, and somewhat sparse, which may be challenging.

You will need to have Experimental Mode on in order to use Megalomaniac size maps like this one.

America's bread basket in Kansas, oil country in Texas. And then added some famous and semi-famous industries and industrial regions. Coal in the Appalachian mountains. The Florida farms around Lake Okeechobee and the (Cheney Bros) food processing plant to its west. But also the Machine Shops representing NASA JPL, where actual rocket scientists work, MIT/Syyn Labs in Cambridge, MA (Boston), and Boeing in Seattle, WA. Even oil's horrifying history is included, with the BP Deep Water Oil well offshore New Orleans, Louisiana.

Includes international destinations that fall within the map's rectangle: Montreal and Toronto in Canada, Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, and in the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Cuba, Bermuda, and Turks and Caicos.

Notes on Scale:
The Megalomaniac 2:1 map size used here is 33km x 16.5km:
https://www.transportfever2.com/wiki/doku.php?id=gamemanual:mapsizes

The United States is roughly 3000mi wide, although I include a fair bit of ocean so perhaps, 3500mi of Earth on this map. That's about 5600km. That comes to a scale of about 170:1. So, that's why a single house in New York takes up all of downtown Manhattan. That said, this map is still big enough to get a Pioneer Zephyr leaving Chicago up to 110mph before reaching California.

For more industries and less travel distance, there's a version that uses 100 randomly generated industries instead:

Just got TF2, saw your USA map and wanted to give it a go. It says "missing DLC" when I try to load map.

Does anyone know how to get this in very hard mode?

Steam Workshop is pretty broken so after a few months I lose the ability to update files. So I don't really recall what was in the final release before updating broke on this one, but, my bet is Open Flora is the missing mod, it's a part of a lot of custom maps to free up the list of trees and crops you can place. Sorry Steam Workshop is so broken! I understand why some games are moving away from it.

I would be happy to create a variant with towns connected, but, I'm pretty sure you mean one where the game cares that they're connected and gives you a warning when they're not.

For that to happen the game would need to build the roads - somehow. I am not sure how. There is a feature in the game to ask for that, but, it fails to connect the towns. And, it might make more sense to make the roads manually to match either the historical 1850 roads, or, the modern interstates. Either way, I'd then need to somehow ask the game to treat them as those special roads that must remain to avoid a warning. Anyone know how to do that?

Any chance you could create a variant with the towns connected?

Yeah some Mods will mix that up for you without an Editor; I split it that way in the default setup to kind of force you to move freight the way freight really moves in the US; but, the US does that mostly because of western ports and China, and building out a fake China in the Pacific seemed a little over the top.
