National Rail NR 95 (Orange and Grey)

Description
The NR class is an Australian diesel locomotive that we’ve had in Rolling Line for well over a year now. 120 of these locomotives were built, though only 119 are still in service as NR 33 was written off and scrapped after an accident.

A Goninan & Co. was the company who built the NR class, with construction taking place from 1996 to 1998. This engine - NR 95 - was one of the 60 engines built at Bassendean works in Western Australia.

All but two NR’s were initially out-shopped in this basic orange and grey livery, complete with National Rail decals. N.R. (the company) remained until 2002, when it was sold to Pacific National. After the takeover, PN was relatively slow to repaint the NR class; some engines remained in unbranded NR colours as recently as 2012.

As for NR 95, she was repainted in Pacific National livery in 2012, and is still in service today. She is now 23 years old.
