National Rail NR 52 (black)

Description
NR 52 was built by A. Goninan & Co. in 1997, and is notable for being one of two NR’s to carry indigenous Australian liveries between 1997 and 2007/09. The artwork was designed by an artist named Bessie Liddle, who was living in Alice Springs at the time.

Before going indigenous, NR 52 was painted in this black base livery. She only wore it for about 2 months before her new livery was applied, straight on the black. The engine remained in indigenous colours until 2007, when she was repainted into Pacific National blue (PN took over National Rail in 2002).

NR 52 is still in service with Pacific National today, and is now 23 years old.
