Kiruka's Tactical Upgrade Dark Events For LWOTC

Description
This mod is a collection of new Tactical Upgrade Dark Events for ADVENT to conduct, to help spice up your Long War of the Chosen campaign. There are 22 of them in total, and both LWOTC-native enemies and ones from some other enemy mods have been included. More enemies can be added to the lists in XComGameCore.ini if you wish. You can also look in there to see how often the Dark Events will apply to the applicable enemies. Some always apply, while others only have a chance of applying, which is rolled on a per-mission basis for each applicable enemy individually.

The list of Dark Events is too damn long for the description now, so it lives in this Discussion thread going forward.

Mod requirements:
  • The Required Items are hard requirements, otherwise the Dark Events will not work properly.
  • My Playable XCOM 2 Aliens For LWOTC mod is optional; having it will unlock 8 extra Dark Events for your campaign, but not having that mod just means those specific Dark Events won't spawn at all. The others will still work.
  • Unlike most of my other work, this one requires Long War of the Chosen, as it has its own way of adding abilities to enemies via Dark Events, which is what this mod is coded to work with.
Known issues:
  • None to speak of right now that I'm aware of.
If you run into bugs, bring them to my attention and I'll try my best to fix them. If you have balance-related feedback, I'll hear you out (especially if the change is easy to do code-wise), but don't forget you can always customize the mod to your liking as well. Everyone's toybox is filled with different stuff.

Conflicts:
  • There shouldn't be any at all.
Future plans:
  • More Dark Events if I come up with more ideas.
  • If I'm offered new 2D assets for some of the Dark Events, I'll happily add them. Right now though there's at least a diverse selection of them.

  • The LWOTC team for making LWOTC, as well as answering some questions I had about the way Tactical Upgrade Dark Events are set up.

@Selevan, in the mod-requirements it says if you don't have playable aliens installed, the dark events won't spawn.

Can i remove some of the dark events, as i dont want to use the playable aliens?

@2Battlestations: Just in case it wasn't clear, the units that the Death From Above Dark Event affect are ones that already have Squadsight by default. In the case of Turrets, I believe Squadsight being added to them started as a LW2 feature which carried over to LWOTC (in the vanilla game, I'm pretty sure the only Turrets that got Squadsight were XCOM's upgraded Avenger Turrets).

This is frightening and exhilarating at the same time. Mutons with free melee bash and extra grenade radius. The turret changes are interesting too: Squadsight and Death From Above. Imagine if both were activated, there would be some surprises. Thank you for your efforts.

@DeyVoid If a mod lists the War of the Chosen expansion as a requirement, it generally won't work with LW2. They have separate versions of ModBuddy.

Also, any time another mod is listed as a requirement, it needs to be enabled. The game won't load any aspect of the mod if it's not enabled. Furthermore, you also will need my version of Playable XCOM 2 Aliens For LWOTC specifically, as some of the abilities in the Dark Events debuted in that mod. You will also need all of that mod's requirements, also for abilities.

@Skarsatai Not sure. It would depend on whether there are other mods for WOTC that do a similar thing and how easy it would be for me to learn the code.
