Tame Overhaul

[IMPORTANT: This mod is discontinued and will no longer receive updates or support. It is confirmed working as of patch v560.3]

This mod makes several changes to the creatures of Atlas
  • All changes are configurable via ini settings. Customize this mod to your own preferences.
  • After installation, wild and existing/newly tamed creatures will be modified.
  • IMPORTANT!: Default settings use a modded version Yeti. To use the vanilla Yeti instead, see the gus.ini configs. HIGHLY recommend making sure you pick your desired Yeti (modded or vanilla) and set the config before/when you first add the mod to your server/game. Any previously tamed Yeti of a different version than the one selected will lose their gender/ability to mate. Modded version Yeti have better balanced stats, can throw players, and riders can use the heal/damage feats on them.
  • This mod is compatible with many other creature mods, but may need to be loaded before them. (Does need to be loaded before Atlas Beastmaster and DasAtlas)

Below is a list of all the default settings:

Creature Changes:
  • Reduced the size of many tames.
  • Removed biome restrictions on tame color spawns.
  • Crabs now have genders and can mate.
  • The following creatures can be tamed and mate: sharks, scorpions, cobras, rattlesnakes, bats, and turtles.
  • Added a modded version of the yeti. A portion of vanilla yeti spawns will be the tameable version (will have "wild" in their name and genders). Vanilla yetis will not be tameable.
  • Reduced the stamina cost of attacks for the elephant and razortooth.
  • Removed the grab attack from wild lions.
  • Removed the cooldown on the pig poop command.
  • Riding a dolphin gives you the intelligence buff without a timer. Dismounting from the dolphin will apply the buff timer.
  • Added fortitude buff when riding Dolphins, Seahorses and Sharks.
  • Added a secondary attack (right click) to Rhinos for better metal/crystal/gem gathering. Reduced weight of metal/gem/crystal in Rhino inventory.

Taming Changes:
  • Shoulder/pickup tames and Horses can be bola\'d at 100% health. Crabs and Sharks are stunned at 50% health. Everything else at 75% health.
  • Bola time on wild creatures has been extended to 5 minutes.
  • Creatures no longer regain health when breaking out of a bola.

Breeding Changes:
  • Removed the temperature restrictions on mating and baby raising.
  • Increased the range of mating.
  • Reduced the time it takes for tames to mate.
  • Reduced the amount of needed walking for baby imprinting.

Misc Changes
  • Added an invisible barrier to stop flying tames/players from going too high and leaving the bounds of the game (which would instantly kill players/tames).

Optional Changes:

The following are changes that are turned off by default, but can be enabled through the ini settings:
  • Customized tame sizes.
  • Random tame sizes.
  • Re-enable biome requirement for mating.
  • Equalize creature spawn level weight. Default game settings have it where there is a much higher chance of low level creatures spawning. This feature gives all levels an equal chance of spawning.
  • Enable color mutations in babies.
  • Adjust mutation chance.
  • Adjust max mutations.
  • Enable wild babies spawning.
  • Adjust chance of getting twins and triplets.
  • Adjust alpha spawn rate.
  • Disable creatures being able to attack while bola\'d.
  • Adjust mating interval time.
  • Adjust mythical creature tame time.
  • Enable permanent mythical tames (Dragon, Cyclops, Rock/Fire Elementals).
  • Enable tameable/breedable leatherwings.
  • Disable wild leatherwings from grabbing players.
  • Disable tamed leatherwings from grabbing players.
  • Disable players from equipping weapons while mounted on a leatherwing.
  • Disable leatherwing flying in specific grids.
  • Enable tameable gorgons.
  • Disable wild Gorgon screaming.
  • Disable tamed Gorgon screaming.
  • Disable tamed Gorgon screams from unseating players/NPCs manning/seated on structures (sails/cannons/wheels etc).
  • Adjust the time it takes tames to mate (vanilla settings are 120 seconds, mod default is 30 seconds).
  • Disable tame equipped armor stat reduction (will give full armor/stats from equipped helmets and saddles).
  • Modify amount of structures that can be placed on Crab, Tortugar, and Elephant platform saddles. Can be used to completely disable cannons being placed on them etc.
  • Set exact gestation time for each tame.
  • Set exact mating interval for each tame.
  • Set exact imprint amount and interval for each tame.
  • Set exact amount of time needed for each tame baby to reach adulthood.
  • Set exact temperature range for incubation for each tame egg.
  • Set exact incubation time for each tame egg.
  • Modify level multiplier for Sharks and Dolphins that spawn in the open Ocean.

Update with the answer to my previous comment, if anyone else needed help with allowing the T.O. Crab to grab wild creatures/allys/etc: AllowFlyerCarryPvE=True in the GUS.ini (again, yes, this is for the crab - it also affects the leatherwing!)

Hi H2O-Melons! I just had a question to check if this is related to your mod - The tameable crabs on a server I play on cannot pick up wild creatures or allied. Only company tames (separately, the Lion cannot do the same). I CTRL+F'd your mod description and the comments here to search for any answers, but couldn't find anything about the pickup settings. And of course, the official Atlas Forum site is destroyed (RIP, there was so much info on it...), so there's even less info out there. Do you know the way to change this pickup setting? Thank you for your time, or anyone's that knows!

Unfortunately this mod causes my game client to crash upon adding it to the mod load order and starting the session.
I'm probably just one of a few players, but if there are others with crashing clients disable this mod and look, if your crash is gone - maybe this info helps out.

when we install the mod on our server, all the grid crashes, I modified the line that you gave a few comments below but still the same, is there a specific manipulation to do to make it work for us?

Do not put anything other than 0.0 or 1.0 in the SpawnLevels config. 0.0 = false, 1.0 = true.

so for some reason when my friend tries to use it on his server/s for some reason most of the grids crash and wont start

so question if i put this "Enables equalized tame level spawning. This makes all levels equally likely to spawn instead of having a much higher chance of low level tames spawning:
SpawnLevels=1.0" higher than 1.0 to for instance 1.5 will it make higher levels spawn more likely to spawn than low levels?

You have probably realised by now , but Yes the mod works well. At least on my server.
