Description
Amphion is proud to present the flagship of the second generation Ray-Class Collectors: The Manta Mk. II. This ship is a total revision of the original Manta that you all knew and loved. The Manta Mk. II is built with usability, safety, and versatility in mind. Its design has significantly reduced the overall mass that the ship had with a mass of 1,880,000kg versus the original's 2,440,000kg. Since the mk. II has a lighter setup, it is more maneuverable than its predecessor.

FEATURES AND INFORMATION

The main feature of all collector-type ships is the collector bay underneath the vessel. This is designed to assist in cooperative hand-mining operations by gathering any loose ore that isn't picked up by the ships or crew, thereby starting processing immediately. The advantage of this, is that it can be selective about what ore is processed right away. It uses an array of collectors and a gravity generator to pull the ores towards itself.

The major change in the second generation is that it now by default acts as a mothership of sorts, carrying 5 parasite craft, each capable of being operated independently when within antenna range. There are four mining drones, and one crew transport/scout craft for surveying potential collection sites. It is designed to interface or connect with other ships in the Amphion lineup via its wingtips.

The Manta carries 6 gatling turrets meant as anti-asteroid defenses, and 2 rocket launchers in its forward fins, though those may not see much use, better to have them present, than not.

The Manta itself is capable of being remotely piloted, and has 6 directional cameras. It is jump capable as well.

For supplementary power, it comes with 4 solar panels and several batteries. Its main source of power is its large reactor.

For safety, the Manta comes equipped with warning indicators for proximity, and various sensors to aid in detecting collision.

Its processing equipment includes two augmented refineries, two assemblers, and two hydrogen generators. It also has minor storage for oxygen and hydrogen.

There are three pressurized decks
-Crew habitation and bridge
-Engineering and maintenance
-Cargo

It is designed for players to access all sections on foot, without the need for a jetpack.

Repairs are far easier than its predecessor, but it is also more susceptible to damage. All necessary survival equipment is included.

Behind the name
The Manta is based on the well-known oceanic Manta ray, a pelagic species of ray that collects its food using its large mouth as it swims. It largely eats planktonic animals, but is known to eat smaller species of fish in the mesopelagic zone. It is endangered due to overfishing
