Xavorion for 1.3.8 - Original Alpha version

Galaxy is more diverse and dangerous. Resources and technology can be found almost anywhere, though the center of galaxy still holds the best of it.

Warning: This mod is still a Work-In-Progress, current state is Alpha - expect issues. Otherwise, have fun.
Feedback appreciated.

Status: No updates for this version. Still works with 1.3.8
New Game: REQUIRED
Multiplayer: Playable
Mod Compatibility: Maybe* (check notes below)
Update 6: Early Combat & Hyperspace Fuel mechanics

Featured starting sector seed: RdrWZKXBd8

----------------------------------------------------

Mod goal is to bring Avorion closer to Egosoft's X game series.

Recomended difficulty is "Beginner", even if you're a hardcore player, since the gameplay is very different from vanilla Avorion.
Higher difficulties will change starting sector's status from completely safe "Core", to smuggler's and pirate infested "Border" or even "Offgrid" sectors.

Similiar to X Series, mining and combat may not be a beginner's choice. Moving to unknown sectors, even those connected via gates, may be a risk.
Resource trading is more common now. You'll probably need to buy materials early on, as each sector is different, and low level resources may or may not be available to mine right away.

You start with a premade ship that contains Framework Blocks inside, replacing those should be used as additional "upgrade slots", if you're not into creating your own ships.
System Upgrades have been redesigned completely, Petty upgrades are cheap and useful and higher rarity versions are meant to replace those of lower quality. Some bonuses of Avorion upgrades have been merged into single one.
Engine upgrades have been designed to specialiaze or offset your ship to preffered role. As traders might use Hyperspace Engines to travel far, Fighters might need the speed and power of Standard engines, or boosting power of Tesla.

Asking civillians about Faction Home Sector coordinates are a good way to find safe spots in galaxy. Sectors close to their Homeworld are guaranteed to be Core Sectors - safe from enemies and heavily populated.
Weapon range, sector size and number of content inside sectors have been increased, spending more time in single sector should be a little more meaningful now.

Unlike Avorion, you will rarely find enemies at equal strength level. Survival in combat depends even more on your manouverability, and efficient energy management is important to keep your boosters ready when shots are coming.
Using Ship Scanner plays an important role, you will want to know the firepower and HP of your enemy before reaching their fire range. And some enemies may be strong enough to destroy your ship in just few shots.
Sending scout ships to figure out strengths of a given sector may be needed if you don't want to take a risk.

Losing a ship is painful now. But as long as you have few credits left, Scrap Market offers junk upgrades that will let you at least trade yourself back up, or find a treasure with Salvaging System.
Habitats and production facilities are more common, and when you're broke, trading those energy cells won't look so bad anymore.

I. Features

1. Galaxy:

- Each sector has a different distribution of resources and technology
- Every resource except Avorion may be generated at any coordinate in the galaxy. Single sector may have up to 3 different resource types
- Ships have different sizes, you may find a variety of small and large ships in single sector
- Strengths and weaknesses of NPC's are distributed randomly by seed.
- Sector size increased to about 250km
- All weapons and missiles range has been greatly increased
- Sectors closer to the center may still contain higher tech and stronger enemies
- Difficulty based starting ship
- Difficulty based starting sector: Core up to Normal, Border up to Expert, and Offgrid for anyone crazy enough to try anything above.

2. Sectors:

Faction sectors are categorized as Border or Core sectors. These differ in traffic, number of stations and security level.
Core sectors are safe from pirates and xsotan, and due to their security level, are harder to attack.
Border sectors are more dangerous for traders, but smugglers and pirates are less likely to be bothered there.

Some civil ships may be willing to trade with player, and border sectors attract suspicious merchants that deal with stolen goods.

Sector devastation mechanics have been introduced in Xavorion - sectors further away from their headquarters may be attacked and partially destroyed.

- Increased number of stations spawned in sectors
- Increased number of NPCs in sectors
- Each sector type has randomized content
- Most vanilla sectors have been modified
- Most vanilla sectors have Devastation mechanics
- Mission frequency increased slightly
- Abandoned ships may appear in most sectors

3. Stations & Upgrades:

Vanilla upgrades have been (almost) completely removed.
Xavorion goal is to make upgrades less about numbers, and more about playstyle and ship specialization.
Scanner is now an important part of a ship. Mining systems and detectors receive a boost from installed scanner.
Most upgrades are unique now, and installing the most expensive one may not be the best choice for your ship.

Hyperspace jumps require fuel at Veteran difficulty and above. Every engine has different fuel requirements, and fuel can be bought at Shipyards, Repair Docks, Fuel Factories or Trading Posts.

Upgrades have been divided into few categories which can be found and bought on related stations:

- Shipyard trades in new Engine Upgrades
- Repair Dock offers booster upgrades and repair turrets
- Trading Stations deals in cargo and trading systems
- Resource Depot trades in mining turrets and upgrades
- Equipment Dock has been replaced by 3 other stations - Scrap Market, Combat Equipment Market, Civil Defenses Market
- Torpedo Market offers launchers and missiles
- Research Station offers AI Turret Control systems
- Wreckages and enemies may drop usable upgrades or broken tech

... and a little more

II. How to play

The goal is to figure out your way in an uknown galaxy but...

You've been provided with most basic engine type - mount it up, don't crash just yet.
Forget about mining with a drone. Your safest bet is to accept some missions.
Scrap Market has some lower value upgrades and turrets that may help in the beginning.
Or you could just fly around and bump into something valuable...

III. Known Issues & Info

- AvorionServer.exe may crash sometimes.
- Requires english language to work for reason unknown yet
- Research Station is not working as intended.
- Balancing : )

- Xavorion can be tweaked now via config file at "Avorion\data\xavorion.lua", template can be copied from mod folder.
- Starting Ships can be changed by placing your ship .xml in "Avorion\data\plans\" directory and naming it after difficulty setting.
- All new stuff have been placed in Xavorion folder, if you wish to check some code

IV. Mod Compatibility

Xavorion has custom upgrade tables and upgrade templates. Any mod that adds or modifies upgrades should not break, but those upgrades will not be available in game (well, that's not entirely true, i forgot to remove Mobile Equipment Merchant )

Any mod that changes turret generation or sector generation may break the game, changes in Xavorion required putting some custom variables in those scripts to allow randomized generation.

Visual and QoL mods should be just fine.

@Rogueredemption9

Swoks wasnt directly changed - same as any Xsotan related event / encounter. I'd expect vanilla drops here, not sure if it even was supposed to drop multiple artifacts.

more curious than anything with Boss Swoks, is it coded in Xavoiron to only drop 1 XSTN per time? regardless of players present? we are from Vanilla, more curious than anything as stated

@Rogueredemption9

I've noticed you got something wrong with having Equipment Docks present, and some stations not selling equipment(like resource depots). Minor mod conflict it seems.

Anyway, glad it works so far ; ) you can always contact me here if needed

Thanks, I'll need to re-check this. Build mode was tested too, I must have missed something in updating files.

@LM13

So Me and MadFaux tested the Engineer Core Module, when in a sector without a shipyard the engineer core module brings up the "on-screen" notif that theres a shipyard in the sector however the build mode still doesnt work as a plus note to this you are able to un-equip subsystems freely

@Princess Lily

This mod, on this page was all in one for ancient version of Avorion.

You need to add at least all 16 mods from Quick-Install collection. Optionals at the bottom
