The SBS MAKO Mk.I is the first in a planned series of civilian pleasure craft from SeaBoss Systems. Designed as a low profile powerboat the MAKO uses 4 Medium Engines in order to reach speeds exceeding 90 knots (46 m/s, 167 km/h, 103mph). This is accomplished by lifting the hull from the water with control fins in order to reduce the drag from water. The elevation systems can be either controlled automatically (default) or manually. In automatic mode the MAKO will react to excessive rolling and pitching by temporarily reducing the elevation to steady the vessel. After it's been settled the system will start to raise again to find that proper balance between stability and speed.

At a speed of 70 knots the MAKO is capable of a range of ~110km using its 5600L fuel tank.

FEATURES:
- 4 seats on the main deck and an additional seat and bed in the Cabin accessible through the front hatch
- 2 Multi Band Radios (one on Deck, one in the Cabin)
- Internal (Speakers) and External (Megaphone) Comms accessible from panels on Deck and in Cabin.
- Bilge alert and control systems for the Cabin and Engine Compartments with Autolock Engine Compartments.
- Moveable Map Screens on Deck (MFD Option) and in Cabin
- Laser based Depth Finder system (SONAR MFD Option)
- 2 Sets of Dive Gear, 1 Set of Arctic Gear and 2 Empty Gear Racks in Cabin; 1 Empty Gear Rack on Deck (located to SB side front, press button to access)
- Cabin includes Lavatory (Head), Glass Floor for diving observation and small Food Reheat Station
- Rear, Dive and Forward Spotlights
- Single Point Autopilot including Auto Throttle Control (stops at destination)
- Fuel Economy Estimator (CONSUMPTION 1x1 System by krimwand), HUD (integrated with Compass Band) and Sports Gauge Cluster (by 404_Gordon_Not Found)
- Throttle Control system featuring optional use of 6 presets configurations (IDL,LOW,MED,HGH,OVR,MAX). The Throttle controller has two values it maintains: SET THROTTLE and ACTIVE THROTTLE. SET THROTTLE is the value that you've requested for the system to achieve. ACTIVE THROTTLE is the actual value sent to the engines which reflects multipliers applied by AP or RUDDER Dampening Systems. Additionally the ACTIVE THROTTLE doesn't immediately go to the SET THROTTLE value. It increases and decreases in increments in order to prevent Throttle spikes to the engine which could put it in to a stall or quick-overheat situation.
- Gear Change system with Prop Brake for no stall transitions from FWD to REVERSE (Throttle System will automatically reduce to zero before changing gear for direction)
- EMERGENCY STOP System - When activate it will automatically set the system to reduced to 0 throttle and apply the Prop Brake.
- Automatic Pitch and Roll Control systems with Manual Override for Pitch
- Throttle Dampening Option (on by default) that at high throttle values (currently set for 65+) will automatically dial the active throttle back depending upon the value sent to the Rudder. This feature will reduce sliding and bouncing while turning at high speed. NOTE: this feature can be toggled on and off using a button to the left of the Driver's seat.
- Emergency Beacon and 2 Flare Launchers
- Chair Elevation controls for Driver's seat
- Engine Fire Suppression System in centre console. If the thermo coupling in the Engine Compartment detects a temperature greater then 60'C (abnormal, caused by fire) it will unlock the button and allow you to engage the EFS System. The water from the nozzles will slowly start to douse the flames. You can see the Temperature level in the HEAT control to the front level of the pilot. Once the fire is out (temp below 60'C) turning of the EFS System will relock the key.

GETTING STARTED and MOVING...
1. Sit in the Driver's Seat. There is a Master Activation Key to the left. Turn it and all 4 Engines will come online. At the same time the various screens including the Driver's HUD and Information Panels will power up.
2.At 0 Throttle Power (IDL) the Prop Brake is automatically engaged and the vessel is set as Neutral. To get moving increase the Throttle by either pressing the UP/DOWN arrows to set a specific number (0-100%) or press buttons 1 and 2 to move through the presets. Once your throttle value is outside of 0 The system will automatically engage the clutches and gears and you will start gaining speed.

In order to go in reverse hit the 3 button and the system will roll the system back down to 0 before engaging the reverse gears. To go forward again simply hit the 3 button to toggle back. NOTE: In reverse the throttle is restricted to a maximum value of 30%.

Autopilot is started by hitting the 4 key. At that point the MAKO will automatically start steering towards the waypoint defined by the entry in the large keypad. If the MAKO is required to make a large turn the AP will automatically scale the throttle back in order to reduce rolling. Once the WP is within a certain range (225m at 100% throttle) it will start systematical reducing the throttle to bring you to a stop at the WP destination. Once the WP is reached the AP will automatically shut off.

THROTTLE CONSIDERATIONS:
00% - IDL, 0 knots. Used for keeping the generators running and the engines from stalling
25% - LOW, 8 knots. Uses Gear 1 (1:1). Used for slow maneuverinig.
35% - 11 knots
36% - 21 knots - Gear 2 kicks in (3:1)
50% - MED, 29 knots
75% - HGH, 55 knots, Boat will start planing over water
90% - OVR, 70 knots, Boat will be actively planning with the engines just in the water
100% - 90 knots, Very Limit for control with Automatic Plane Adjustment, go to Manual control and try to keep control.

HUD Elements:
*HUD is only active when the Master Activation Key has been turned on and the Show HUD switch is enabled (default)
- Compass Band with AP Target Pin - Top
- AP Indicator - Middle Right when AP is Active
- Reverse Indicator (RV) - Middle Right when Reverse is active
- Set Throttle Value - Middle Left in Highlight Colour
- Active Throttle Value - Middle Left in Green
- Throttle Preset Name (defaults to THR when in between) - Bottom Left
- Speed in knots - Bottom Right

You don't need to use all the buttons. They are optional and tied to additional features. All you need to do to drive the MAKO is turn the Main key to start the engines (4 total) and adjust the throttle using either Up/Arrows or buttons 1 and 2 to adjust the throttle presets. It's built to be relatively easy to drive with tons of options you can use if you choose.

Just like any vehicle MAX power is available but you typically don't ever use it... it's like redlining a car... it's very difficult to control and destructive... but it's an option. When the MAKO starts planing to get max speed you need to pay attention more to where and how you are driving. The controls/features/power on the MAKO are entirely up to the choices of the driver... use them if you want but you don't have to and if you are going for speed you need to be careful.

...and what bug are you noticing?

Hey StrormTrail, I added one "final" system to the MAKO in light of your observations:
THROTTLE DAMPENER for RUDDER VALUE.

Once the ACTIVE THROTTLE goes over 65 the system will turn on which will automatically dampen the throttle value sent to the engines if the rudder goes over a certain value. This will reduce the slides and bumps in the turns by automatically reducing the power request to the engines while the rudder is equal to or greater than the check value. The reduction is proportional to the starting throttle value but can't go below 65%. After the rudder returns to below its check value the system will automatically put the ACTIVE THROTTLE back to its full setting. NOTE: the dampening option can be disabled by using a button to the left of the DRIVER's seat.

Thanks, StormTrail. Nice video, you have a new subscriber:)

When the throttle gets to around 65 percent that's when the boat starts planing and gathering speed. It's very unstable at 100% and the best throttle profile for active turning is <75%.

For straight runs at high speed go with 85% and it should be stable for 85 to 90 knots even in winds up to 50%. In order to get that speed the boat starts planing. That's where you see the RPS spike: the boat stops fighting water resistance and its all to speed. It is essentially skipping across the water with the engines just submerged. There are leveling fins for both Pitch and Roll which are more effective when in the water but will work against the air.

So when I'm travelling in a straight line I gear the throttle to 85% (OVR Preset) and ramp up to maybe 90% depending on the water conditions. As the conditions worsen you dial back the throttle. At 75+ knots speed if I need to make turns they are small taps on the keys (the rudder is set for RESET). This prevents the boat from going in to a slide and bouncing. If you need to turn fast tap the throttle preset down to MED to drop the throttle temporarily and then when you line up dial it back up to OVR.

NOTE: MAX setting is for if you are pulling something or if you have a death wish. Think about driving the MAKO like driving a sports car... you can put your foot to the floor but try to turn at high speed and you're rolling. The additional danger on running on water is that the road is undulating. Every wave throws it around. MAX is there as an option but you'll probably won't want to use it. :)
