Description
Patch 15 compatible.

This mod is essentially a polishing of the unit rosters that exist in the vanilla Rome 2 for the larger factions around the mediterranean, no units have been added, they've just been made avaible or otherwise modified, and mainly it's the naval rosters.

ON LAND:
Thorax Pikemen made avaible for Athens, they have Swords and hoplites, so the lack of pikes is peculiar. (If you see them looking differently in my pictures than in yours, then it's because my thorax troops are modded)
Thorax Hoplites made avaible for Pontus, Egypt and Epirus, the reasoning similar to the one about Athens' pikemen. (Macedon ought to get them too, but they have shield bearers so hardly need it)

AT SEA:
Tower and Missile hepteres (the "sevens") made avaible for Athens and Epirus, making the final military wharf worth it. Also, the Tower helpteres now contain Cretan archers rather than regular ones while the Missile hepteres (name is wrong, but the image will show the correct unit in it) contains Thorax Swordsmen. This is to make these giants more akin to the flagships they ought to be, as well as giving them two different roles on the field.
Seleucids have missile hepteres avaible (they also have their own unique tower hepteres from vanilla, which I haven't touched) that like Athens and Epirus contains Thorax Swordsmen. (it's the same unit, after all), as does Bactria.
Bactria also has a Pontic hexareme ship made avaible, a unit which has had its crew modified to Hoplites, rather than Pontic Swordsmen. Pontus meanwhile has had its tower hexareme (name will be wrong, but image right) upgraded to a missile heptareme (seven) full of swordsmen.
Carthageninan Tower hepteres has had its crew changed from javelinmen (why they were that, I don't know) to Lybian Javelinmen and their Missile hepteres (again, name wrong when you hover the mouse over, but everything else is correct.) now contain Sacred band. The hexareme previously containing Sacred Band now contains Lybian infantry.
A tetreres greek medium assault ship has had its crew changed from thureos spears to hoplites.
The Spartan assault hexareme has been given a larger crew and upgraded to a missile hepteres, giving them a slight increase in naval power. (though beware, large ships are sloooow)
Egyptian Tower Octeres now contains Nubian bowmen, rather than egyptian infantry. In the same vein, their missile Octeres has had the egyptian infantry exchanged for Royal thorax swordsmen, as with the hepteres, this is to make these ships not only truly flagships of the fleet, but to have a crew fitting for their role and status.

This mod should be compatible with any other mod out there.

UPDATE 2014-07-19: Removed the changes to roman ships, partly for balance and partly to avoid conflicts with other mods. Changed the crews of two spartan ships. Changed some crews for eastern-hellenic ships, greek ships and Illyrian ships as well, more diversity and a general raising in quality.

Update: Massilia, Pergamon and Cimmeria has gotten access to some thorax troops.

I try to imagine how Bactria can have a navy, like for the Caspian Sea?

Any chance of making a knossos specific ship that looks and feels more mercenary/pirate?

some of the new units only appear as generals, not regular units, mostly the thorax troops

It is a bit outdated, admittedly, but it should still work...maybe you have other mods in place...? :-/
