Armok's Gauntlet, AKA-- Bloodfist - The Sky-Fortress of God --(COMPLETE)--

Description
(&) ARMOK'S GAUNTLET!!! (&)

AKA: (due to the vocabulary of DF)

Nazushdur Anrizgeshud Nòm

Bloodfist the Sky-Fortress of God

Made by me, then (4/4/2010 DF) and now ('Complete' Deadline: 4/4/2020 TM).

====================================

DF Megaproject Link: (For the story)
http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=36955.msg591913#msg591913

DFMA Link: (For the maps only) https://mkv25.net/dfma/map-8377-bloodfist

Categorized as Fan Art, rather than Airplane, due to the lack of flight ability (too heavy). I might re-submit a more functional modern-powered variant you can actually fly.

====================================

Flight Controls:
UP - Aft Forward Engines (Toggle)
LEFT / RIGHT - Aft Steering Engines (Toggle)

1 - Main Lift Engines - Full Aft Cluster (Toggle)
3 - Trim Engines - Rear Fore Cluster (Toggle)
SPACE - Trim Engines - Mid Fore Cluster (Manual)
4 - Trim Engines - Front Fore Cluster (Toggle)

SHIFT - Fire Ballista

How to Fly:
Power-up by toggling the Fore Cluster engines, then the Aft Cluster engines, as to not slam the front into the ground. (3/4) Fore Cluster engines balance the lift on the front, and the (SPACE) Mid Fore cluster controls the pitch with more precise manual control. Provided, of course, we could fly it.

NOTE: Controls were refined while constructing/test driving. The real test comes when they're jets instead of propellers. That, or shedding tons of weight off the ship, so it's a flying skeleton.

FOLLOW-UP: I have sufficiently de-rezzed the ship (lowering the overall resolution/detail of the ship's parts) enough to still render complete-enough to be viewed and interacted in full, while still yielding plenty of room for modification, as seen fit. With optimal enough de-rezzing, I have yielded an end result of (612 / 700) blocks/complexity overall, meaning, you can add a bit more to the ship as YOU see fit (be it more guns, engines, etc.). To save you the math, it means you have upwards to 88 more blocks/complex objects added to this beast, before you can't go any further. I tried my best to get it as moddable as possible, as I originally intended with my DF saves/files as well. Feel free to make use of this ship as you see fit. I had fun building it; too bad it can't fly (or can it? Jets instead?).

====================================

About the Ship:
This is an attempted re-creation of my old Dwarf Fortress Megaproject, for various reasons. Mainly, I wanted to see if I can fly it, or if it can fly at all (It kinda won't). It's also been nearly 10 years since I last completed the original megaproject, and I wanted to honor it's memory by making it in another game, to see if it would work, and to see my vision take flight.

Also, in case I had any fans, to give them a fun scale model to play around with, modify, break, whatever. Sorry it can't be as detailed, or as functional as I wanted it to be, due to Trailmaker's limitations. So I had to shrink it to 1x1x3(4) per tile to work with complexity and block limits (700 on both, just so you know). It's 'incomplete' since I haven't finished de-rezzing the model to allow for modifying it as fans see fit. But that will wait until the 10-year anniversary hits.

I hope you enjoy this toy model as well as I did bulding it both times. Might not be an Artifact, nor masterwork quality, but it's +quality+ work, no less, for what I had to work with. Have fun!

And feel free to check out my other creations, a Landspeeder (which actually works), and even an Amphibious Landspeeder. It was a fun project, overall. And looks like something I would find in a car lot. Explore the Trailmakers world in style! I wonder how Airborne DLC stuff will work with it (I don't have my own copy, as of this post)? Strap wings to thee, as see if we can make them conquer the skies, too.

A pair of droids and an old dude and some young bloke were spotted in one in the desert, but they were not the ones we were looking for. They told us so.

Given the latest developments with the Airborne DLC content and any TM patches along the way, and such; feel free to try to make this heavy bastard from the bearded folk fly.Trust me,I tried, Yes, even with rockets all over the place. When it doubt, make it a dirigible. Might as well be a zepplin made of lead.

Have !!FUN!!.

Here's some music to go with your attempt:

And check out the game I originally made this in (albeit a WAAY earlier version of it (before trees were big (multi-tile +Z height) and a MUCH more efficient harvest. 1-tile trees when I made this big bastard; why, ti took nearly 10 Dorf-years to build! No regerts, much !!fun!! was had.)):

Dwarf Fortress, where Losing is !!FUN!!.
