TurnerVsReceiver

Description
NOTE: With a new update of DHS coming out that will break existing mods I've had to integrate the current version into the mod. This mod now no longer requires Drika's Hotspot and in fact will clash with it.

DESCRIPTION----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turner finds himself in the world of Wolfire's game Receiver, facing drones, turrets, and a deadly boss.

5 Endings, two of them secret
Several hidden achievements
Find and collect all 6 tapes

Evil robotic overlord robot with voice acting by yours truly ;)
Massive epic boss fight with said robot overlord

Drones that will chase you down and zap you
Turrets that will turn you into a bloody pulp

Lasers. Lots of lasers.
More lasers.
Probably too many lasers.

A trophy room that tracks all your achievements and displays them.

Everything is saved when you exit the level. Join back without losing your progress.

Do you DARE enter the world of Receiver?

UPDATED NOV 27:
The new update should improve fps a bit and add a bunch of new changes.
The map is now complete as originally envisioned. You will still need pretty good hardware to run the map.

Bugs are still there, I got the worst of them but I wasn't able to figure out the cause for some smaller ones. Press Home on your keyboard for an emergency reset should you need it.

ATTENTION! If you start the game for the first time and you are in a black box which you cannot escape from or see anything, press HOME and then END on your keyboard. This should hopefully reset you to the beginning of the level. (END also resets all progress and achievements, so don't press it again unless you want to erase all progress.) If you are in an area surrounded by ice cliffs, you are at the start of the level.

it doesn't fully work. no way to defend yourself and if a drone sees you, you may as well restart.

How do I collect tapes??

The music was a very heavily edited version of M83 - Outro. I actually spliced a few different parts of the song together, but hopefully it sounds like it was all meant to be one verse. Glad you had fun! That map was my first time experimenting with Drika's Hotspot, pretty much every story map I release from now on will make use of it, so there should be more 'cinematic' stuff coming.

I had only one blackbox bug incident first time I played (two updates ago). New update made the mod more cinematic. It was cool to see game turning FPS for a moment in a cutscene. As for the secret achievements, I got them all. Thanks for the hints they were helpful. Although, color “red” would be more accurate. Also you could’ve said I need to jump up to get the 4th achievement. After a long time of trial and error I finally got to the place of ascension and nothing happened! I thought all of my work was for nothing. I jumped up out of frustration more than anything. And then I saw it happening and laughed. What was that music playing?

Hey man - the fact that you were able to play it means I've hopefully fixed that blackbox bug, so that's great! I certainly can give some hints as to achievements. One achievement is about finding an unorthodox route through the first part of the map that doesn't involve going through either building. Finding that achievement will (depending on what method you use) probably get you another achievement, which I will give you the title "The Little One" and a color "Black". Those are your two clues for the second achievement. The third achievement involves finding a certain infamous creature that you will find in almost all my maps, a rather blubbery fellow. He is rather large in this map so once you find him climb on his back to get the achievement. The fourth achievement is my favourite. To get it, you will have to have rather 'lofty' ambitions.

Hi, I like your map. Found all tapes and endings. However, I can’t get all hidden achievements. Are there 4 of them? I’m asking because description mentions ‘Several hidden achievements’, and I see 4 pedestals in the game. Could you be so kind and give some hints concerning the hidden achievements and how to get them? Thank you.

Thx for the critique man. Yeah that whole map was an experiment. I learned a lot from it but definitely made a lot of mistakes too, if I was rating all my maps from best to worst this one would probably be at the bottom. Too many bugs that I'm unable to catch and the gameplay wasn't really balanced. Unfortunately it's pretty unfixable in its current state and I'm not really willing to remake the entire thing so I'm just leaving it as is at this point.

The dialogue scrolling is extremely slow, I spawned in a pitch black room, everything is a shade of dark purple which makes navigating through this massive maze almost impossible. I was curious where the green box was around Turner, so I opened the editor with F1 and despite searching everywhere, I can't find even come close to finding it. This might have something to do with the progress saving mechanic built into the map.

On another note, this map seems to be a mix of the SAW franchise, mixed with James Bond, which is interesting, but they don't really go togerher very well in my opinion.
