Description
This is a simple small map with a simple idea. What if your lighting is limited to just a ring of light?
Players will have to defend the black circle with only a ring of light around it.

Features:
  • 'Negative light' or 'black light' or 'negative intensity light'
  • Barriers that can be activated.
  • Low gravity. Slightly less than 50% of normal/default KF2 gravity
  • Literally just a ring of light and a black circle
  • Dosh holdout volume
  • Infinite ammo during trader time
  • Dark souls reference
  • Probably some bugs/glitches

This map uses 'negative light' or 'black light' or 'negative intensity light'. With this, it is possible to 'shine darkness'. As one would shine light to light an object, it shines to envelope it in darkness. I have not tested this with low performance GPUs and I do not know if this may cause any issues with rendering.

Press E to ACTIVATE the barriers abound the black circle. The barriers last for 20 seconds and can be reactivated again 10 seconds after it ends.


I wanted to test collision triggers and negative intensity light. The barriers are just KFPawnBlockingVolume but the collision type changes with the kismet triggers. You can step out of the black circle into the light but you are limited to a small area. The 'black light' has 'light shadows', which I guess is cool.

Fixed some bugs.
Added 8 random ammo box and increased size of play area. Play area is now an octagonal shape and encompasses the entire lit area.

Sorry! I was being lazy on that part. Today, I'll update the blocking volumes to be hexagonal or something.

I really like the concept. However, it's quite frustrating running into a square blocking volume on a round surface.

I thought that the barriers would balance the game since players can just spam it. But I realised that the bosses have ranged attacks, which you can try to dodge with only low gravity high jumps. I don't know how much random ammo spawns I should add though.

No ammo spawns during boss fight. Though it actually makes the boss a challenge, but an occasional ammo spawn would be nice, heh. Other than that, it makes for a pretty interesting game mode/map.
