Petroleum VIII

Description
Three new extremely powerful buildings can transform oil resources into:
- Food (Agricultural Industry)
- Gold (Service Society)
- Production (Petrochemical Industry)

... as long as there is flowing a constant supply of oil!
Lifelike, oil springs will run dry sooner or later...

The special buildings will begin their work the next round after completion.

"Brave New World" compatible version [experimental]
If you play with "Gods&Kings" the Petroleum VII (7.5) version is better (easier)!

Languages: Deutsch, English

Additional modifications:
- Fallout from nuclear meltdowns and uranium mines
- Nuclear fusion reactors
- Coal to Liquid facilities
- Cold Fusion
- 3 unhappiness per city. +1 happiness from additional luxury resources
- Units beyond Cavalry need a strategic resource
- Happiness from educational buildings

There are two routes to victory:
The "Clean Energy" way of sustainable economy with less hazards and therefore more money.
Or the "Dirty Way" of ruthless conquering and exploiting of resources leading to a big military power but leaving behind scorched and contaminated earth.

Which way will you choose?

Regarding Cold Fusion:
Capitalist systems profit from limited resources. Capitalist concerns have to limit avaibility of resources and fight cheap alternatives. Therefore you will need a genius or a tech-granting wonder to achieve the technology of Cold Fusion. If you play on Gods&Kings you should use Petroleum VII (7.5), it's the same version as VIII but has the option to research cold fusion without obstacles if you have the policy of Communism.

No, sorry. Maybe a friend on Windows can install it and send it to you? It's just about a megabyte. Thanks for you interest!

Any direct downloads? Running the game on OS X and steam workshop is basically useless for me except for finding the mods in the first place

Theoretically you can have many oil resources but no oil for the mod-specific industry because the mod calculates with its own resource counter. Even empty wells will give you 1 resource. There are two different CtL facilities, one for the standard resource, one for the mod-specific oil reserves.

In any case the mod will tell you each round via pop up how many wells are left respectively available. Maybe there is a incompatibility with the other mod. But anyways the mod calculation should be consistent; if you feel you are lacking oil, you can adjust the resource map settings to plentiful.

It's only superficially tested with Brave New World, therefore only "experimental". There could be bugs.

I ran out of oil even when I have oil resources left (about 90). I don't think the oil generated by any source other than wells or platform are being used (city-states, coal to liquid, or biofuel refineries with the SRB mod). Long story short, my cities have no oil, but I have more than ever.

Hi, I think it should work. The production cost of all units are adjusted, so it will be balanced in that regard. New units can change the intended military handling in late game. "Petroleum" will lead to armies entirely dependent on resources. It will be a important task to protect resources and to conquer / deny enemy's resources. Added units without resource requirement will break this design and lead to the downsides of the original game.

I see that the Gunship Helicopter mod only changes resource requirement from aluminium to oil. That will change the balance somewhat, but should be still enjoyable.

will this work in conjuction with the gunship helicopter mod?
