Mythical history of Aztecs

Description
=== Mythical history of the Aztecs ===

Play the semi-mythical history of the Aztecs, from their start in Aztlan to their Tepanec federate state condition.

In these four first scenarii, the Aztecs are trying to win over the gods' support, and to establish a modest colony. They are first very technologically limited, but helped by the gods, and can resist to a better armed, superior in number foe.

1. In this first scenario, they will be migrating from the northern Mexico legendary city of Aztlan and look to rest in the seven caverns of Chicomoztoc. A few gods already support the Nahuatls, but the savagery of the jungle tries to consume them.

2. They will then have to accomplish quests in the region, in once powerful cities. The gods will worship their exploits! But they are pugnacious too, and the plots of the dangerous Tezcatlipoca are bringing corruption over the entire region.

3. Always looking for a place to settle, the Mexicas will found a real colony in the jungle: Chapultepec. But the Tepanecs have built an Empire in the region and are harassing the Aztecs, who must seek hospitality to Colhuacan.

4. In the fourth scenario, years later, Colhuacan is now under Tepanec rule too. The Aztecs are living miserably, and have to farm the land for the Tepanecs. At last, their long migration ends: on a cactus, they admire an eagle with a snake in its claws. On this omen sent by Huitzilopochtli will born Tenochtitlan! The Tepanecs will keep taxing them, but they will leave the Aztecs at peace. However, their colony of Tlapocan could make war to the Mexicas. Only the gods will let you earn victory.

To know:

- The first two scenarii do not need Rise of the Rajas.
- I am trying to represent the cosmogony and History of the Aztecs. If you like to play this civilisation, you will really be able to take advantage of each bonus! And every scenario is decisively tied to mythology.
- In the next scenarii, the Aztecs will at last be able to fight against the Tepanecs and to build an Empire.
- I think it would be a nice idea to get a new Age of Mythology expansion based on the Aztecs!

I ended up skipping it and I enjoy level 4.

I was recently trying another campaign with surprising pathfinding issues. I think there must have been a patch that changed pathfinding, only solution I could think of to stumble across two campaigns with the same issue.

If someone has a lot of experience in making custom campaigns and wants to collaborate to finish this one on DE, let me know!

Well that's a shame, but there is a path through the jungle. Unfortunately, I don't really have the time to remake those and finish this campaign. I had started remaking it all for DE, but for the moment I can only recommend you skip level 3 if it is too difficult.

3rd level... wow this needs work.

Numerous paths were blocked by trees. You could follow along the path with the texture of a path but the units were getting stuck. I gave myself 1000 wood and treated it as a wood nothing map, cutting through after leaving it running while at work. Then found the city, everything going well. Enjoyed the 'magic' of the jungle. But when it came time to flee, the level was bugged. The path to escape is blocked by boulders. I did Marco Polo, yep, only path out of here has boulders. 12 hours wasted. smh

Can't recommend.

Thanks! I do ot know if someone has ever proposed this, but I guess I am not the first. Perhaps one day we will have AoM DE, and then, maybe...

Concerning:
- Scenario 3: all right, so finding the colony settlement is to difficult, I will change that. Also, you do not need to explore all of the western jungle, if you were able to find the right path.

- Scenario 4: so I understand you find sacrifices annoying, but they can easily turned off by rushing to castle age and capturing an easy relic. And as far as tributes are concerned, they should just nerf your economy, but if you develop it to the point you always have enough of the required ressources, you will have no problem at all. The point of this scenario is not to eliminate orange or red, as explicited, but just to get the relics. The instructions are normally clear on that aspect, but I will make it impossible to loose the carts to allied players.

Thank you for all your comments, and more are most welcome!

All right, so to wrap up your observations, this campaign, and most notaby the two last scenarios are too frustrating. When I tested them, my concern was to make a challenging campaign, as I often find those on steam are too easy. I will make a few changes so that in intermediate or standard level you can play it more easily, with less frustration.

OBSERVATIONS: (After three scenarios, multiple attempts)
1) Reorder the hints. Others need rewording. They are often befuddling.

2) I managed scenario one after accidentally doing an end around to the north.

3) In the second scenario, I eventually torpedoed the corruption base in the NE after growing weary of a choke point massacre of their troops.

4) I attempted the third scenario multiple times, eventually cutting my way through the woods to the main base. I saved a lot, but eventually determined that I am not good enough to defeat this scenario or interested in figuring out how. AI is too strong and my defenses too weak. If I am going to slog through something, I need some sense of progress, even with temporary setbacks.

5) I looked at scenario four and decided to move on to something else. I had recently enjoyed the "History of Bern" campaign, which I found a challenge but doable.

6) Your maps are beautiful, your concept is really cool, and I like your ideas.

The two relics at top: i couldnt open the second due to having already totally exterminating the oranges from the map, but the first one (sacrifice) actually DID open, however i couldnt get the cart to change colour to mine. possibly separate the relics from one another so that the LOS of the units/ building doesnt overlap and maintain control of the relic cart. i had to torpedo cheat to even get access to the relic i already unlocked.
also consider changing the sacrifice area that actually deletes the unit to the flagged area, not the whole island. i lost quite a lot of stuff, including towers
