Description
A carefully collected selection of the best mods to improve the experience of Civilization VI. I've divided the collection into 7 sections depending on their purpose and functionality as follows:

The essentials - Mods you can use in every game, they can only improve your experience

Enhanced Mod Manager - makes mod handling more convenient, always have enabled.
AI+ - smarter AI, not just numerical buffs. There are other AI mods too, but I prefer this atm.
Sukritact's Simple UI Adjustments - The most essential improvements to UI, in comparison to CQUI I've experienced less bugs. Also adds the screenshot mode.
Simplified Gossip - The gossip notifications made quick to read.
Simplified Gossip - Slide Notifications Addon - The gossip notifications moved to the side of the screen and out of your face.
[GS] CIVIG 2 - Basically demographics from CIV V, lots of interesting info during the gameplay.
Removable Resources and Features - Allows harvesting strategic and luxury resources. Useful when resources block district placement.
50 Turn Counterspy - No need to renew counterspy missions so often in the late game. You can always stop a counterspy mission - no need to wait 50 turns.

Improvements - Mods that will likely improve your gameplay, but can be argued against

Non Stop Project - When you have nothing to build, but city needs work.
Improved Start Biases - Currently having some problems, but should make the start location better match a civs playstyle.
Zee's Fewer Trade Offers - Less spam from AI with their bad deals.
Zee's More Reliable Reactors - Nuclear reactors last longer and you don't need to constantly recommission them.
Zee's Normalized Climate Change - Slows down the rate of Climate Change and makes its effects more impactful.
Zee's Properly Timed Eras - Prevents civs from rushing too far ahead or lacking too far behind in science or culture.
Zee's Slower Grievance Decay - Past events matter more as the grievances stay around longer.
CIVITAS City-States Expanded - More city-states and more city-state types.
Religion Expanded - More religions and beliefs to widen the customizability of religions.
Tomatekh's Historical Religions - More historical religions so more civs can have their own, historical religions.

Personal preferences - Mods that I really prefer, but may well change the game too much in someone's opinion

Ski Resort Complexity - No more Ski Resort spam, especially not into desert mountains.
TCS Free Walls for City-States - To prevent helpless city-states from constantly getting overrun.
Workable Mountains for Everyone - Everyone's citizens can work mountains for 1 production. Required for the next mod.
Build Wonders on Mountains - Petra, Potala Palace and Cristo Redentor can be built on a mountain tile to correspond to reality.
Steel and Thunder: Unique Units - Every civ gets a new unique unit.
Steel and Thunder: Unit Expansion - New general units to fill the gaps in the tech tree.
p0kiehl's Precinct of Amun-Ra - A unique district for Egypt - adds nice visual flavor.
p0kiehl's Satrap's Court - Same as above for Persia.

Visual enhancement - Mods to tweak the visuals in the game

Colorized Historic Moments - Colorized Historic Moments
Vibrant Waters - Prettier Water Textures
Unique District Icons - Each civilization with a unique district gets a unique icon for it.
Leugi's City Style Pack - Some additional styles for civs with unique architecture.
Leugi's Colder Tundra - Changes tunda tiles' colors to look more realistically cold.

Geographical additions - Mods that add to the geography of the game

Mappa Mundi - New place names to make sure you don't run out of them.
Sukritact's natural wonders are of good quality. They don't have the narration of Sean Bean for them, but are definitely recommended.
Terra Miribilis - Tweaks natural wonders' bonuses to be more interesting and adds 19 new ones.

Mods to help play tall - Growing your cities big will be beneficial with these mods. I usually only use these while playing TSL with a dense Europe.

Production From Population
p0kiehl's Improved Specialists - City specialists' yields are slightly increased and some districts with no specialist slots now have them.
Rebalanced mines - Less mines, encourages you to get production from elsewhere.
More District Trade Route Yields - Slight buff to districts. Districts in the origin city add more to the trade route yields.

True Start Location - Mods to play with historical, true start locations. I run these mods only when actually playing TSL, so would recommend creating a separate mod group with these included.

Yet (not) Another Maps Pack - All the essential real world maps in one.
YnAMP - Remove close CS - Remove Brussels, Geneva and Lisbon from the game, to give more space in Europe.
YnAMP - Cliffs of Dover Yield Tweak - Cliffs of Dover Yield changed to 2 Food, 1 Culture, 1 Gold to help England growth on TSL maps.
YnAMP - Closer Cities - Enables settling new cities with only 2 tiles between the next city. Useful in crowded Europe.
More Civs Allowed in Multiplayer - Probably will cause problems though.
Prismatic - Color and Jersey Overhaul - When playing with a lot of civs, different colors may run out. This ensures it doesn't happen.

As a bonus is Free Camera, which I mostly use to take screenshots. Its' addon Free Camera: Reduced Zoom Range aims to prevent you from crashing your game with too much zooming.
