As such, this mod is obsolete and will no longer be actively maintained (unless they inflate the values again I guess). I'll still keep it up for anyone that enjoy playing KR 0.8-0.15.3, though. Thank you for your support and feedback over the years! Happy I could make you enjoy KR more while it lasted!

A MANPOWER ADJUSTMENT MOD FOR KAISERREICH

V0.8 of Kaiserreich increased the required manpower and infantry equipment costs by 50% across the board for land units. While a valid way to deal with unit spam, smaller countries with very low manpower pools could be heavily restricted by this. This mod seeks to strike a middle ground between the two balancing concerns.

WHAT THIS MOD DOES

The mod reduces all manpower costs back to vanilla HOI4 levels. A single infantry unit now costs 1000 manpower instead of 1500, and so on. The increased equipment costs for units remain unchanged however, meaning that it's still harder to pump out huge armies early or afford reckless strategies. It's just your industry that gets taxed, not your manpower pool. The adjustment applies to all land units. Nothing else has been altered.

The mod's mainly made for people that enjoy playing small countries and still field a fair number of divisions, or just prefer the pre-0.8 unit counts in general.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q: Will this break my save files?

No, it won't. Testing showed that you will not, however, get your manpower "refunded" if you load an old save with this mod turned on. Starting fresh is therefore recommended, but not necessary.

Q: Will this mod break multiplayer compatibility?

Since it alters the gameplay your friends will also need to be running this mod in order to use it in multiplayer games.

Q: Any balance or performance issues?

Since everyone plays according to the same vanilla-ish rules there are no huge changes in the game's balance. Where you'll see a difference is mainly in smaller countries having some more flexibility, especially in places like central America where they'd typically be limited to a very small number of units below extensive concription. You won't see anywhere near as big of a change in, say, the WK2 balance.

In terms of performance, since you'll potentially see a lot more divisions in the field you'll see some slowdown during very intense Weltkrieg 2 sessions. While it's still vanilla HOI4/KR0.7 levels, it's worth considering if you're running HOI4 on a heavily outdated and underpowered computer.

Q: Are there any crash/compatibility issues?

Nothing that showed up during testing, but the mod might have issues if you run any other mods besides Kaiserreich that alters the files under "commons\units" in the HOI4 folder.

V1.6 (2020/06/10): Full HOI4 1.9.3 compatibility and accounted for recent suppression adjustments in KR.
V1.5 (2020/03/20): Full 1.9 compatibility.
V1.4 (2019/12/15): Cosmetic 1.8.1 update, fingers crossed that the launcher Gods are with us today.
V1.3 (2019/06/14): Accounted for KR's updated logistics companies.
V1.2 (2019/04/21): Fixed an oversight with the motorized ART/AT/AA units.
V1.1 (2019/04/20): Updated for full compatibility with KR 0.8.5 and its MtG/V1.6 additions.
V1.0 (2019/01/15): Initial release, covered all land units in the mod at the time.

As stated in the second bullet point: Manpower and equipment values for battalions have been reverted to vanilla values, and as such are no longer inflated by 50%.

This effectively means that this mod is obsolete! I'll still keep it around for anyone that enjoy playing older versions of KR with it, but I'll no longer need to maintain it. Thanks to everyone that supported it and provided feedback over the years!

It hasn't been updated yet, but it should still work with KR0.14.2A since the patch notes said that they didn't do anything with the units and no one reported any issues so far. Either way, a full update will probably drop for 0.15 when that drops.

Hello, i love this mod but it is unknown of working with either the latest 1.10 kaiserreich or kaiserredux curent version or fine. :)

@Buffalo: I don't really able to maintain more mods than I already do, sorry. You can easily do one of your own though. All the unit data files in Kaiserreich can be found by searching for "1521695605" in your Steamapps folder to find KR, and then go un under "common\units" and open up whatever relevant infantry files and such and edit the equipment requirements by using the ones in the base HOI4 folder as a reference. You can also create your own mod using the mod tools in the launcher, copying over the relevant unit files to that mod folder generated with them, modify them to resemble the vanilla ones as much as you see fit, and then add this line to your .mod file:
dependencies={
"Kaiserreich"
}
That'll set it up so that your homebrewed mod takes priority over Kaiserreich, allowing you to have whatever changes to their unit files that you want.

Sorry that I can't really make and maintain more mods atm, but hopefully this'll help you tweak it yourself! Good luck!

Things are a bit busy on my end right now, but I'll try to have a patch out either this weekend or sometime early next week that'll account for all changes in both vanilla and KR so that the unit stats aren't outdated.
