Proper Killable Followers

Description
Lets be honest, followers are annoying as ****. I could get past the buggy AI and retarded behaviour that they do, but the one thing that annoys me the most is their immortality. They can be whaled on and whaled on; and yet never die unless hit by a lucky arrow, a strong attack, or the player; that for me is a massive immersion breaker.

A lot of mods out their aim to fix this, it should be very easy to fix after all, there is a tag in the CK on all actors called "protected", which is what makes them kneel down and be unkillable, so by unticking that on each follower they should become killable. On the surface it seems to not work, but in fact all it's changing is whether the follower is killable WHEN THEY AREN'T FOLLOWING YOU. To make them killable when they ARE following you, you need to change another tag which is in the follower script itself; that is what this mod does.

NOTE: Followers will still kneel down and regen their health, enemies will still aggro to you when they do this and they will still get back up a few seconds later, however, with this change once your follower starts attacking again and retakes aggro they will die (or on the second "standup" or third), they WILL eventually die unless you pull the enemies away from them. I've tested this on all altered followers, enemies will use finishing moves on them, dragons will eat them, etc.

Followers made killable:

All the housecarls
All the Hirelings
Adelaisa Vendicci: A female Imperial who works for the East Empire Company.
Ahtar: A male Redguard Warrior who is found in Solitude.
Annekke Crag-Jumper: A female Nord Ranger found in Darkwater Crossing.
Aranea Ienith: A female Dunmer Conjuration Mage found at the Shrine of Azura.
Benor: A male Nord Warrior found in Morthal.
Borgakh the Steel Heart: A female Orc Warrior found in Mor Khazgur.
Cosnach: An alcoholic male Breton Warrior found in Markarth.
Derkeethus: A male Argonian Ranger found in Darkwater Pass.
Eola: A female Breton Warlock found in Markarth's Hall of the Dead.
Faendal: A male Bosmer Thief found in Riverwood.
Ghorbash the Iron Hand: A male Orc Ranger found in Dushnikh Yal.
Kharjo: A male Khajiit Warrior traveling between cities in a Khajiit caravan.
Lob: A male Orc Ranger found in Largashbur.
Mjoll the Lioness: A female Nord Warrior found in Riften.
Ogol: A male Orc Warrior found in Largashbur.
Roggi Knot-Beard: A male Nord Warrior found in Kynesgrove.
Sven: A male Nord Bard found in Riverwood.
Ugor: A female Orc Ranger in Largashbur.
Uthgerd the Unbroken: A female Nord Warrior found in The Bannered Mare in Whiterun.

To prevent danger to saves and quests, guild-related followers and dungeon related followers are still protected, however there are enough people who want me to, i will make them killable as well.

Mod should be compatible with all other follower altering mods; so long as it is the last in the load order

Please tell me if you find any bugs, there are bound to be a few and i'll get on them right away; also please rate the mod and leave a comment on your experiences with it, so that it can get noticed =)

Enjoy!

*Extra Warning* If you like to travel around on foot, and your follower locks on to some enemy, unless you're near the fight, the enemy won't lock onto you when your follower goes down the first time and they will just kill your follower. So keep an eye on your allies.

Yeah, i'd say so, could be a mod that's not playing nice with this one.
Do you have anything else that changes companions at all?

Try re-jigging your load order, or using LOOT/BOSS to order it for you, it might be able to spot a conflict

might be other mods causing problems

Hmm, i'm not so sure there bud, I've certainly never seen that with just my mod alone. It certainly could be, but I doubt it.

question is this mod whats making my fallowers lie down on the ground instead of instantly dieing? Do they die after that stage ? Im kind of confused I tested them fighting Whiterun gaurds and both my fallowers just lied on the ground with health meter regening

You're definitely correct there, almost all mods work better on a new game, particularly any that have an effect on world spaces or stats; things that improve follower level for example need to either have a fresh save or something built in that re-loads the follower's core files in order to update their data.

Here, however, a new game isn't needed, as all this mod really does is change a flag in the followers files that dictates how the character handles death; basically it's a tick box, and is such a small change that the game doesn't need to reload anything for the follower.

I kind of think that would work best on a new game right? Followr mods that improve their level for example only work when you first enter their initial area. I might be wrong, but seems it would work better to me on a new game.

If I can direct your attention to the description my good sir, this is explained:

"NOTE: Followers will still kneel down and regen their health, enemies will still aggro to you when they do this and they will still get back up a few seconds later, however, with this change once your follower starts attacking again and retakes aggro they will die (or on the second "standup" or third), they WILL eventually die unless you pull the enemies away from them.
