Description
"Women and men; soldiers and outlaws; fools and corpses. All will find their way to us now that the road is clear.

But sooner or later you will look at the Old Road and know that no more will come."


No More Heroes mod, back from the dead!

The idea is to give you every hero at the start and nothing more. These 15 souls are all you have to face the horrors of the estate, and hopefully, carry you through the Darkest Dungeon.

Original Mod concept was by LookMyName but it has been abandoned and no is longer supported. This is my attempt at recreating that experience.

And like the original mod, some things have been changed to balance out the challenge.

1. You can equip up to 7 active skills in combat
Taken vebatim: This is for balancing the lack of combos in same-hero compositions, plus the fact that you only have one of each. You'll start with only 4 like normal and must train the other three using the guild.

2. Inventory Stacks
Loot stacks slightly boosted. Makes it a bit easier to care for your heroes. Full breakdown in the changelog.
Provisions and quest items are not affected.

3. Max Locked Positive Quirks
You can lock up to 4 positive quirks. Give your hero a distinct personality.
Negative quirks are unchanged.

4. Events
Removed recruitment events for obvious reasons.
The resurrection event only requires 1 dead hero and is available from week 1.

5. Never Again is always Permissive
There is a high chance that you will not have 16 heroes to throw at the Darkest Dungeon when you are ready to face it. So Never Again will no longer prevent you from sending the same hero twice or more. But be aware that they will have a penalty of +80 Stress at the start of the dungeon and a quest-long -25% Virtue Chance.


Start the campaign with 15 base-game characters, 1 of each class

Compatible with all game modes

NOT compatible with DLC characters. You'll need to install a patch. Links below.

I added "Minstral" class mod successfully to the stage coach start and I have no issues. Just followed the instructions in the pinned discussions. Could be an issue with add multiple classes?

adding your own heros just crashes the game, just for you to reload at the hamlet with all of your hero's gone.

hi so uh I downloaded this mod one day and for some reason when booting up the game I'm taken to an error screen that said

Assert Failed :
(pItemClass ! = nullptr)
Loot::TableEntries::ItemEntry::LoadFromJsonValue in loot_item_entry.cpp line 41

I can still play the game don't get me wrong but for some reason unless I position the mod at the top, the Musketeer patch below, and turn them on and then off, I'm always taken to the error screen and I have no idea how to remedy it. I even unsubscribed to the mod and yet the error still persists. Do you have any ideas on how I can fix this?

Don't know if anyone gets this problem but I seem to get several heroes (around 4) repeated and, therefore, I don't get 4 heroes since their place has been taken by some dooplegangers. A pity really, I liked the idea of playing the game with unique heroes rather tahn having disposable ones :/

Thanks for the answer. Your mod is pretty fun and I apreciate your work here, but for me not being able to get the 100% of the goals, sadly, kinda ruins the experience. I know I can download another mod to remove dungeon restrictions but when I play overhauls, I want to get a non corrupted and intended autor´s full experience.

So, I don´t know if this is doable or even if you are open to make any changes but I think lowering a bit the xp resolve you get completing dungeons, should get it fixed.

For the rest I loved the mod. Thanks again for the answer. Hope this can be fixed and give it another try.
