Dawn of the Dead Music Mod

Description
Replaces some of the music in the game with that of the original `Dawn of the Dead' movie.

Menu = `L'alba dei morti viventi' by Goblin
Tank = `Zombi' by Goblin
Safe room music = `La caccia' by Goblin
Ending credits theme = `The Gonk/ by Howard Chappell

All these songs are from the `Dawn of the Dead' soundtrack. You will hear some short snippets of music from `Day of the Dead' littered throughout as well.

There seems to be an issue with the menu music not playing on startup - this can be resolved by placing the .VPK directly into your /addons folder. It's a pain but the only way I know to get it to work.

I made this mainly as a personal project for myself but hopefully someone else out there will get some enjoyment from it! Of course, all credit goes to the makers of the original movies and this awesome, cheesy zombie music!

This has easily become one of my favourite add ons. Too bad it's a bit choppy sometimes.

Could you make one only for the credits with the song Zaratozom from the band Goblin?
It's the same song that sound at the end of the movie.

I made this exact mod for the original L4D back in '09, but with tracks for the witch (both when calm and agro) and stingers for each of the special infected pulled directly from Goblin's soundtrack. It had a pretty limited release around the somethingawful community and was hosted on FPS Banana but has sadly been lost to time and hard drive failures. I'm really glad somebody else had the same idea and I'm stoked that other people appreciate it.

As far as how I made mine, I simply edited music from the DotD soundtrack to fit the length and pacing of tracks from the game, as well as a number of short clips for special infected (drums, synth riffs, droning sounds, beep-boops, etc.). Rename each clip to the appropriate L4D file name and replace the audio files. Done. Easy peasy.

Scratch that my man, I found out where Left 4 Dead keeps the mods

You know speaking of using anything usefull from your mod is there actually a way to access the modfiles? I really love it I only want to edit two themes, but left 4 dead doesn't seem to keep mods in the workshop folder and only seems to download them from the main menu. How would I access the mod file if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for the response! I may dive into music modification myself at some point if it's not crazy. I've made a music mod or two in my day but only if it was simple haha Appreciate it anyways!

Thanks for the kind words! Unfortunately, I made this so long ago that I don't even remember how I did this (and I don't have the energy or motivation to figure it all out again) so this mod comes pretty much as is. I would certainly encourage anyone making their own mods to feel free to use anything from this that they may find helpful.

Love the mod! Perfect for a romero style mod collection im working on (minus headshots, and keeping specials in) Any way the tank theme could be editted to start at 43 seconds as to hear the drum part after a short intro?

This is definitely staying in my load order! RIP George Romero!
