The United Systems Corporation, or USC, first emerged in the dying years of the 21st Century, with the coalescence of the two major interplanetary freight businesses of the time, the Mercury Trading Platform and the Jupiter Freight Collaboration. For nearly a century, it grew to be the dominant organisation in the entirety of the Sol system, reaching an eventual size of 34 quadrillion Terran Units in value. Change began, however, in the devastating financial collapse and civil war of 2278-2295, with the company entering a state of complete free fall. Though bankrupt, the business retained huge production levels of manufactured weaponry and kept hold of all of its land ownership (which at this point included Earth's moon), and survived through several decades more. In the Earth summer of 2295, the high leader of Mars, Rei Vespo, took complete power over the entire Sol system (except Neptune) via a slew of high profile political and military assassinations. Upset by the new rulers views on industry and the higher corporate tax levels, in 2298 the USC made its move, assassinating Rei Vespo and the entire city of New Olympia (located on Olympus Mons, Mars) via thermobarrac and light nuclear carpet bombing, as well as organising the assassination and replacement of over 10,000 individuals within the beurocratic structure of the unstable government. Having destroyed the seat of power and reduced the government to a puppet, the USC finished its coup by taking complete control of the inner solar system in the dying days of 2299, and by 2301 its power was absolute. This would last up until its collapse in 2421.

Venus: Skies under USC control, with rumours of rebel and pirate colonies hidden on the surface
Earth: Mostly wasteland but under USC control
Mars: Under USC control but disliked by general populace
Jupiter: Seat of USC power
Saturn: A warzone, with sections controlled by the USC, pirates and rebels respectively
Uranus: Empty (Mostly abandoned stations from the civil war of 2278)
Neptune: Pirates
The USC military contains craft ranging from small unarmed atmospheric shuttles up to battle dreadnoughts.
