USC Medusa Interplanetary Fighter Mk2F

In 1 collection by The Little Lost Turtle
United Systems Corporation (USC) Paramilitary Arm
4 items
Description
Produced by the United Systems Corporation in specialised "Oculi" and the newer "Attila" Class moving shipyards, the "Medusa" Interplanetary Fighter Mk2 was the most used military light ship and the most populous ship in the entire USC military for a time, serving as armour crackers, with new hydrogen engines on the front and better designed shape making it far more maneuverable and dynamic than the first. While not on a par with some specialised dogfighters, this version of the ship could easily hold its own against other ships of its own size.
Though some armour was lost due to the need for additional thrusters, the Mk2 did not lose any of its weapon functionality, still retaining its 9 gatling cannons and 4 reloadable missile launchers.
The Mk2 did, however, gain an even greater thirst for hydrogen than before, requiring as much as some smaller freighters to run for any extended period of time.
The Mk2F "Firecat" was a unique craft piloted by R45C1, an intelligent and highly functioning android who became one of the best fighter aces in the USC. Known by most as "The NightFlame", in his later years simply his mere presence was enough to scare other fighters off the battlefield. The name came from the red and yellow fire patterning he always used. R45C1 managed an eventual total of 563 confirmed kills from the years 2354 to 2377, with 559 of these being smaller craft, along with 3 large freighters and even one battle dreadnought in the year 2365. His eventual demise came in the year 2377 when a fault in his programming led to him "going rogue". He tore a path of destruction through 3 systems over 11 months, before finally being hunted down and destroyed along with the Firecat by another USC fighter ace, Jaco Crosuac. After the destruction of R45C1, personalised ships were banned, and all ships used a standard black and grey colour scheme from the year 2380.
The Medusa Mk2F "Firecat" is entirely vanilla and mod free, and is designed to serve as an upgrade to the Medusa Mk1 with a more interesting colour scheme.
