Description
UPDATE: I am working on updating all my planet mods, but I need some help. Many of the planet mods I create make use of albedo shading. This technique, discovered by Xilthis, creates subtle shading that brings a little more depth to planets. We had to use the ore mark mechanic to do this. Since Keen has changed the way ore marks are done, it is no longer possible to do this using that mechanic; but, it is still possible to do if Keen will implement it. If we can get the votes up, maybe they will make this technique part of the approach to planet design. Please go here and vote for this feedback: https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/general/topic/return-the-ability-to-create-planetary-albedo-maps-using-add-file. They will not listen to feedback with only a few votes. Please help.

This is a replacement mod for the Vanilla Earthlike planet. Procedurally generated heatmap and foliage map were used to create biomes based on heat, slope and height rather than simply using latitude. This generates a more natural shift from biome to biome with the poles being much more barren and sparse feeling, the woodlands feeling warm and lush, and the plains feeling more like Kansas. The poles also look a little more natural than they do in the vanilla.

Because this is a vanilla replacement, it can be used with all of the vanilla scenarios or in any existing world that has the Earthlike planet. It also has the vanilla ore placement and markings.

*Known issues: there are some strange texture glitches in the desert and a bit too many dead trees... this will be investigated and resolved soon.

Sorry. Yeah, I haven't been on Space Engineers in some time. I'll see if I can update it soon.

seems like there is a plant or tree model missing. my planet is littered with pink cubes.

Could this be used with the uranium ore removal?

My bad, I see that there is a radius at the south pole with no vegatation, but there is vegatation right at the North pole. Therefore, is it possible to mimic the no vegatation radius at both poles and increase them? If not, no worries. I'll survive ....... barely lol

Love it. Makes more sense. Just 2 things bug me about it (I know, I'm sorry. Where do I get off complaining about something I get for free). Is there a way to make the North pole and South pole a little more realistic? I know it's not Earth, but is there a way to remove all vegitation in a radius around the North and South poles? The other is, is it possible to make large bodies of sea level ice (since we can't have water) in certain elevations? I had a thought of spawning perfectly smooth ice spheres and trying to mimic seas or oceans but something tells me that it won't work.

Heatmap: a map showing hotter and cooler regions of an area - in this case, used to create custom biomes (desert, woodland, arctic, etc...). Heightmap: a map showing variations in height. If I’d used a different heightmap, it wouldn’t work with the vanilla scenarios. So, it’s not a lie... you just need to better read or understand English.

I’m wondering if this involves the fact that, for some, English is a second language. A “heatmap” is not a “heightmap.”

"It uses a procedurally generated heatmap" - it's a lie, heightmaps actually the same as on vanilla earthlike planet
