FLICKBALL

Description
Flickball is a physical strategy game that combines elements of chess, pool (billiards/snooker), and sports like soccer, football, and golf, into a totally new and definitely awesome experience for two players. Teams will compete to maneuver their player pieces and flick the main ball into the opposing team's goal.

Full rules are in the notebook in game, and there isn't a lot to read. A cheat sheet is also provided, to help new players get used to the flow of the game.

FLICKBALL IS CURRENTLY IN BETA 1.5. Any feedback is welcome. I would love to hear about your experience with the game, from how tolerable reading the rules was, to where you got hung up, and how much fun you had.

Check out 3 Team Flickball, out now on the Workshop! https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1164204217

IMPORTANT NOTE: The rules now oficially recommend 12 player teams. If you've been playing with 8 so far, try adding the extra four in your next game.

@ Woodledude, I added you. I would love to fine tune the game a bit, and play test. Especialy so if you don't mind smashing out a few assets! I design table top games as a hobby, and although I am new to TTS I am a software enginer, so working on lua should be a cake walk. I like flick ball allot, and feel it really has a place in TTS more so than just some niche project, it takes so much advantage of the TTS engine, it really is a genuis idea.

The scripting aspects are easier for me, but can't help you with UVs. ANything you had in mind?

@ Unreal Ed, I've commented on your mod saying as much, but thank you for your efforts :) I'm not currently planning on working on Flickball much anymore, but that being said, I remain open to assisting someone else with further development. It's pretty effortless for me to throw models together, or even to make textures - Most of the work that eats my time and energy comes with UV mapping and scripting in TTS. Not to mention playtesting.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments! I'm glad people are still enjoying Flickball :)

@Pajamas, your house rule is a very interesting addition to the game. As for having a larger board or a larger goal area, I've considered that, and there were boards with larger goals in the past. The main issue I ran into was that with a larger goal, it was very easy to make cross-field goals, which I didn't like much. I may revisit the idea now that I know what works and what doesn't, especially if I made a larger board. I've considered making an "advanced" board for a while, for people who have really gotten into the game and broken it down into a meta where the original board doesn't hold up as much.

Just got done playing this for like 2 hours man! Great game.

I really love the back and forth of the game, and it is so open to tons of meta and strategy. My group disliked that if the ball got close, but the opponent could not kick it, then the defender could just force all his balls out, so he could reset his defense the next turn. So we implemented a house rule. If you self out a piece of your own, three times, during a period, you are forced to pass. This forced us to be WAY more accurate with our flicks all around, and it broke up the game play a bit forcing us to keep defenders and spread out our team.

I really feel the board needs to be larger, and you need a larger goal area. Opening up the play area is honestly the only request I could make at this time, everything else seems wonderful!

It's here http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1216406413

I'll do it for the 3-way game too. Btw, does it mean we won't see a 4-player Flickball?

Just played this. Great game! Really really fun stuff. The passing rule makes the whole game and changes it from a simple/dumb flicking game to an actual game of skill.

Suggestions: The dice should change colors with scripting when their exhaustion tiles are flipped so that it's easier to see which dice can still move. Also, there should a button to flip back all the exhaustion tokens back to their rigth side up. And I'd remove like half of the codes on the dice so they're easier to see on the dice.

Would it be ok if i made a mod with those changes? I'd link to this mod and credit you

The rules should be in the Notebook, in the top menu :)

I'm just going to let anyone following this page closely know, I'm ending active development of Flickball for the current moment to focus on developing my new game. If anyone wants to ask any questions about Flickball, like if you're interested in developing or updating the mod, feel free to write here or message me. I'll continue checking in on this page every now and then.
