(It is my policy that anyone can use the work I've done here, and modify or add it to their own mod, and publish it, though please note the original source.)

Short Explanation: this mod makes all Elections Candidates in-game randomized, similar to Monarch Generation, albeit with a better chance to get a higher score in the Candidate’s selected background (Administration, Diplomacy, or Military), which is only revealed once the candidate has been elected. However, on average, the Candidate’s score is comparable to those in the Vanilla elections. The purpose of this mod is to add a bit randomness to Elections, while not making the mechanic overpowered when compared to hereditary monarchies.

Long Explanation: This mod makes Candidates have their scores determined by dice rolls, similar to how monarchs’ scores are determined. To be specific a Monarch’s scores are determined by 2 4-sided dice rolls, the sum of which is then reduced by 2, and the process is repeated for each stat. Thus, the average score for a monarch’s 3 stats is 3. Meanwhile, in the vanilla game, elected official’s stats are always the same, 4 in their prime stat and 1 in each other stat (for a stat average of 2). What this mod does is make it so Elected officials stats are generated in a similar manner, but for to maintain balance they are on average less than that of a monarch roll. For the Candidate’s prime stat 2 3-sided dice are rolled, the sum of which is reduced by 1, (for an average result of 3). For his other stats, 2 3-sided dice are rolled (for each stat), the sum of which (for each) is reduced by 2 (for an average result of 2). Thus, on average the elected candidate will have scores of 3, 2, 2, with his stat average being 2.333, only slightly higher than the vanilla game’s elected officials average of 2.

Note: As of now when you choose your candidate an in-game pop-up will tell you your new leader’s stats are “0 0 0”. Don’t worry, on the diplomacy menu you will see the Leader’s actual (newly generated) stats.

Note: As in the default game, Colonial Elections produce Candidates with higher secondary stats. Lottery Elections Remain unchanged.

Seems to still works (random election for republics-mine and AI)
but broke the savonarole chains of events...
The file are .bin, not text
So i don't have the skill for trying fixing myself... Any help? ^^

As far as I can tell, this still works with 1.30.*. (Tested with Genoa and killing my leader several times with the console.) It even works with the tier 2 government reform "Political Dynasties" which gives +1 random candidate bonus.
This bonus is never wasted on a 6-skill ruler, either, since this mod first gives you a 0/0/0 then randomly adds stats to it—up to a max of 5 (not 6) in it's focused stat category.

Update? It doesn't work with any republic as of 1.30

I am somewhat unfamiliar with pirate republics. Perhaps they use a different event file for elections. At the moment I don't have time to check the files.

Hey, I was playing a game as iceland (BT 11) of all people, became a pirate republic, and noticed that they didn't get randomized? which really sucked, cause I was liking the variety of stats

That's a bummer. As far as I remeber, it used to work with ET. Damn mod conflicts. No worries. Great mod you made here.

@SamRexil
I don't know. ET changes a lot of the base game, so generally unless the mod is specifically designed to work with ET, then it is very likely to be broken by mod conflicts.

Is this mod not compatible with ET?
reddbane  [author] 23 Jan, 2019 @ 3:54pm
@SamRexil
Most likely a mod conflict. Check to see if any of your others mods replace the Elections event.

It isn't working whilst playing as Milan with the Ambrosian Republic
