“Potential is only the expression of a possibility, something that can be assessed accurately only in retrospect. In other words, you'll never how good you might have become until you try." - Mike Mentzer

"Man's proper stature is not one of mediocrity, failure, frustration, or defeat, but one of achievement, strength, and nobility. In short, man can and ought to be a hero." - Mike Mentzer

"But thou must equally avoid flattering men and being vexed at them, for both are unsocial and lead to harm. And let this truth be present to thee in the excitement of anger, that to be moved by passion is not manly, but that mildness and gentleness, as they are more agreeable to human nature, so also are they more manly; and he who possesses these qualities possesses strength, nerves and courage, and not the man who is subject to fits of passion and discontent. For in the same degree in which a man’s mind is nearer to freedom from all passion, in the same degree also is it nearer to strength: and as the sense of pain is a characteristic of weakness, so also is anger. For he who yields to pain and he who yields to anger, both are wounded and both submit." - Chapter 11 Marcus Aurelius

"Adopt a systematic study of the way all things change into one another: pay constant attention to this aspect of nature and train yourself in it. Nothing is so conducive to greatness of mind. One so trained has divested himself of his body: recognizing that in almost no time he will have to leave all this behind and depart from the world of men, he has devoted his entire self to justice in his own actions and to the nature of the Whole in all things external.” - Chapter 10 Marcus Aurelius

"I would much rather have men ask why I have no statue than why I have one." - Marcus Porcius Cato

As a wise philosopher once said:

If life gives you lemons, make a korean and build a better version of Civ V.

The ugly truth! We are the children of man; ascended from flesh. But what of tomorrow? We shall inherit both the heavens and the earth; and we will rule! Trust in me, for I am the chosen; and deserve praise you do, for we are one! They silence us because they fear us! Stay vigilant; our enemies have been purged in our light; purging the world in fire and righteousness!

The weak shall be winnowed; the timid shall be cast down; the mighty shall tremble at my feet and pray for pardon. The world shall be remade. The new age shall rise from the ashes of the old. My vision shall be realized. Weakness will be purged from the world, and mortal and immortal alike purified in the refiner's fire.

The paladin knelt, planting his sword into the ground. The power he had gained now felt like a curse, a mockery of the ideals he once held dear. He whispered to the winds, a final oath—one not of glory, but of remorse and penance. "I have broken my oath, and in doing so, I have broken the world. May my name be forgotten, my deeds erased by time, for in victory, I have found my deepest defeat." And with that, he closed his eyes, surrendering to the embrace of the new dawn, hoping for a redemption that lay beyond the horizon, in a world where his choices no longer haunted the remnants of his soul.

He had sacrificed everything—friends, comrades, his very soul—for the promise of euphoria, through domination, and power. Yet, as he gazed upon the lifeless landscape, the weight of his actions crushed him. The silence was suffocating, filled with the ghosts of the fallen and the echoes of dreams turned to ash. Victory, in its most hollow form, had left him standing alone in a world he had conquered but could no longer recognize or belong to. The promises made to him felt like cruel illusions, fading into the void of his regrets.

The paladin stood amidst the desolation, his breath echoing through the hollow remnants of the city. His once-gleaming armor, now tarnished and scarred, bore witness to his relentless pursuit of a victory that had come at an unimaginable cost. The blade he clutched, still glowing with an eerie, unnatural red, was a stark reminder of the power he had sought and the oath he had shattered. The moon hung like a sliver of a sickle in the sky, casting a cold, indifferent light on the ruins below.
