A little bit pointy and obvious in terms of plot twists, but remarkably pleasant in terms of art and sound. Memorable characters, interesting choises, omnipresent feeling of godly powers, and some stylish wardrobe. Mix, but not stir!

Lets face it, Hollow Knight is a MASTERPIECE.
The music is from another world, trust me, you WANT that soundtrack to listen to in your day-to-day life. The style is genuine in it's simplicity, the background is rich, and story is emotional and heart-driven. Add to this a battle-system better than that in lots of other games (even fight-based one, eh, TES?) and you got yourself a total must-play.
My only regret here is that you can only give a game 1 thumbsup. I'd give a million, if I could.

That weird thing when a free2play game made to promote A-grade project is actualy 1000 times better than said project...

Anyway, the game is relaxing base-building routine, ocasionaly punctured by raiders, radroaches, molerats, lack of resourses... You know, your 1 to 1 resourse management made a lilbit cooler.

An absolute MARVEL among tactical games. Perfectly balanced and at the same time even a single card in your deck can crown you or doom you. Each character feels unique, no new run is like the other, and if you get bored - mods are your best friends.
This game is FLAWLESS and addicting as hell. Would 100% recommend.

Ok, so, where do I start...
Enix, can you explain one thing? How, HOW IN THE WORD did you managed to get a 25+ years old game to LAG LIKE CRAZY on modern PC?!!! And mind you, that original port didn't have that problem at all!
Desynchronized video and sound? Check! Lags? Check! Video overlays cut in half? Check! Disapearing and\or clipping textures? Check, check aaaand check! How, tell me please, how in the world did you manage to kill everything good that the game had while doing nothing at all on the problems you were supposed to fix?!
People, if you want to play Grandia II - go somewhere else and find the original. Sure, it won't be "HD" and would be somewhat low-poly, but it would work and the sound won't outrun the visuals.
Don't waste your money on THIS "HD" piece of junk.

Pretty much abandoned by now. The community lives out its last days, all the good modmakers left for greener pastures, and all that's left is a bunch of children posting fart jokes.

A sad ending for a game of great, but unrealized potential

So, I heard you like Megaman? Well, then this game is definetly NOT for you. Because lets face it - yes, it looks alike, yes, it has similar style, similar controls and kinda similar set up of 8 bosses, BUT! Believe me when I say - it FEELS NOTHING LIKE Megaman Classic or Megaman X.
Your character is much heavier in movement - lower jumps, quicker falls and slides, slower run speed. No doublejumping like Zero (well, you can have it if you're lucky to find particular boots, but chances of it are insultingly low), no hover like Axl (same situation as previous, actualy), and because of random nature of it - literaly 0 tactical play simply because you don't know what will you find on your next run. Add to it the fact that you can't safe and thos all the levels must be completed on a single run with very, very, VERY SLIM margin for error and very, very, VERY HIGH chance of getting fragment of the level generated that is practicly unpassable and can easily bring you from 30 HP to 0 HP just like that, and you'll get yourself 20XX - a beautiful, stylish, but BREATHTAKINGLY PAINFULLY HARD GAME.

You see, Megaman series (Megaman X line of it in particular) used to have this perfect difficulty curve, when it was hard enough to be challenging, but not too much to be unbeatable. Megas always were an intellectual games at their core. Rush - and you'll lose, but play tacticly, think ahead (and fast), get into mechanics - and you'll master it no doubt.
But THIS MESS?!
Here it doesn't mater how well you play, how good your reaction is, how short is your responce time, it doesn't mater if you memorised every boss weakness, it doesn't mater who's your favorite character - will you get crowned or get boned is completely of to luck. You were lucky to get Sky Temple levels early in your run? Good for you! Got them after round 4? Prepare to rip your hair off, because these get almost unbeatable on later rounds. Put all on your powers, but didn't got to fight the right boss before the next one? Sus to be you. And so on.

But what is, probably, the worst of it - is total lack of feel of power progression. In Megas, you get stronger as you progress thro the game. You unlock new weaponry, you level up your stats, and if you search stages carefuly enough, you might even get some hidden power-ups. Yes, that all makes bossfights easier and easier as you progress, but it also make you feel stronger, better and more skillful.
In 20XX you level up, yes - but the stages level up with you, and even FASTER than you. As a result - you are NEVER stronger than the enemy, you're never even strong just enough.
I know some people might enjoy that state, but for me, it just kills every reason to level up in the first place. Why bother if it yelds no result, no satisfaction? It just feels like running at your best, just to stay on the same place.

Does it means, that it's a bad game? No. It still has it's charm, it's own charm. Even with all the bad level designs, insane difficulty spikes and unballanced stats. It's just NOT Megaman. Not in any way you can probably think of. It is insanely difficult roguelike platformer about... err... who contractors realy are? Robots? Cyborgs? Androids? ...about whatever contractors are.

Dark Souls? Gettin Over it? PFFFFF! They can both go eat their hearts out. THIS GAME IS INSANE. And it will make you go so as well.

So yeah, if you lookin for something to please your nostalgia, or something with rich background story and developing characters, or something with fluid tactical gameplay - go further, this game has none of that. If you are lookin for challenge, for style of 80-90 era, for beautyful sound or just something to make you F-N MAD - then you came to the right place. Just make sure you have enough spare controllers to replace those that you soon gonna be throwin out the window.

Ok, WOW.
This one is good. When you see it first time, you may think "Oh hell, another harem-building game", and the start is somewhat low-paced, but when you get through it - man, the story is good and emotional!
It still needs a few corrections on grammar in english version, but I guess if you realy want a good story, you can let a few mispels just slide by, right? )
