This game is a ps2 classic. It has it's own charme, seperates itself from the final fantasy franchise far enough to stand out and has some unique mechanics and ideas. For fans and replayers like me a nice addition to the library, for newcomers maybe to clunky..

Tbh I think it just can't stand the todays standards where other remasters can cause this special title has very low geometry count (the chars and especially the levels). They just put aa and slightly sharper versions of the old textures into this. And on top of that there are the oldschool rendersequences in very low res which all in all leads to a super crisp washedout fighting screen with very pixelated cgi mixed into that.
That stuff looked amazing back in the days on my tube television and the contrast was almost nonexistent cause the quality difference between those both worlds weren't that high. Now we have somehow remastered fighting screen (2455x1440) but the old cgi (looks like 800x600).. Still the themes, ideas and effects are still amazing!

The only thing in my opinion that aged bad is the soundscape in this game. The music is goat but the mix and the soundeffects, the blendings.. all of that is very clunky. I just want to put that on the table cause there is as far as I know no option to put the sound effects lower and the music higher.. It seems you have to live with that ratio and since its in a bad condition I would like to point that out!
I can overlook that and still have some nice time with this game.. 1 or 2 walkthroughs.. finishing it 100%.. but I could understand why other people won't overlook that when there are so many other games nowadays in a fairly better condition.
And damn I do still love those bossfights :D
