It doesn't have the same wonder of playing Horizon: Zero Dawn for the first time, because the discovery of the mystery just isn't there. Still, it's a fun game! It builds on the gameplay from HZD, and still tells a good story.

The amazing mod community keeps this game thriving, even though it definitely shows its age in some ways (saving can literally take a minute or two, and alt+tabbing out has a non-zero chance to CTD). But it has a huge amount of variety of mods to enjoy, each with their own gameplay changes to keep you from getting stale.

This is a great game, don't get me wrong. But given the TW:WH3 is about to come out, at this point the main purpose of getting this game will likely be for what it will unlock in 3's Mortal Empires. So what I'm saying is that you might want to consider waiting for a discount.

Qualified Recommendation:

This is a Disgaea game. If you know what that means and like it, this is an unreserved yes. If you DON'T know, it means an insane grind for insane stats. By post game, you can go from level 1 to 9999 in a single battle. Because why not.

But level 9999 is just barely the start in the journey for stats. A basic character at 9999 has about 100k per stat. There are enemies out there with 99999999 in every stat. Good luck getting yourself even close to that. I, personally, love this, but obviously it's not everyone's cup of tea.

So, if that sounds good to you, dive in! Otherwise, you can totally beat the game/main story line without really any of this, and it's fun, but potentially not worth the price.

Instant Classic. The developer said he was influenced by Zelda and Metroid, and boy does it show. The game is quite fun, and the puzzles (except for one) all make sense and are fun to solve. Heavily recommend.

Extremely well written. Good story and plot, that makes you think. The decisions you make will have consequences. I played dozens of hours on it before it was on Steam.

Crashes all the fing time.

Edit: Seems much more stable these several years later. Still, as a follow-up to Darksiders I, it's a bit disappointing. The addition of loot is never a good thing. The original did it right. Still, interesting enough to play.
