I have a feeling that recent updates to this game may have made it significantly worse in terms of performance. I exceed the recommended spec and had a terrible time trying to play it due to the performance issues.

For reference:
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D
GPU: RTX 3070 w/8GB VRAM
RAM: 32GB DDR4 @3000 MHz
Game installed on an SSD

My one other complaint from the short playtime is that the grip angle for firearms is very awkward on Quest 2 controllers. If I point a pistol or similar 1 handed gun it naturally points downwards at a like, 25 or 30 degree angle, meaning I have to contort my wrist to achieve a proper grip and sight picture. I don't think that accurate shooting is a goal of the game, but it would be nice to have an option to adjust the wrist angle to compensate for this.

I wanted to like Far Cry 6. The setting and plot premise were interesting at first and the story intro set up good motivation for the player character, however, after this everything went downhill.

In comparison to Far Cry 5, the sound design and feel of firearms was severely lacking, this is a big part of what brought me to try FC6, I just wanted a dumb shooter with satisfying, fun combat and I didn't get that. For example your starter pistol, a makarov (the game calls it a PMM despite it not being a PMM, but rather a standard 1950s PM) is extremely quiet, I could barely hear the SFX for the shot because I was talking when I first used it. Or our first primary weapon, an old FAL battle rifle, we use it in full auto and it takes far too many shots to down a basic enemy, this is something that should be a late game weapon but it's basically our first "real" gun.

Along with this comes an issue of weapon design, more specifically the attachments for said weapons. The basic accouterments that you expect in Far Cry are present, red dot sights, suppressors, medium range scopes, but the ones initially available to you are strange, craft made versions that make Fallout 4's pipe guns seem sensible and well designed by comparison. I would rather deal with plot contrivances that proper attachments aren't available until you steal some from the military than be forced to use a weird bottle suppressor, it could at least be an oil filter instead.

Things might bet better later on, but I refunded the game after being introduced to our "craft made rocket launcher backpack".

I have fairly mixed feelings about Shadows of Doubt, what's already here is very fun and engaging as long as you're solving murders. The core gameplay loop of solving murder cases is very fun, very satisfying, feels great. Outside of that, all of the dead time between murders kinda sucks.
At the present moment there are a variety of random jobs you can take to earn money and find something to do inbetween cases but I've found most of them are uncompletable with the buggy state of the game with the exception of outsourced arrests and vandalism. The others didn't recognize the completion state of objectives and wouldn't allow me to turn them in.
Putting aside the other features the game lacks that I'd expect from an immersive sim that I'm sure will come with future development I think Shadows of Doubt has a bright future, in a years time I'm sure the game will be vastly improved.

Fun little game, scratches an itch I have for good bullethell roguelike gameplay after finishing Enter the Gungeon, worth more than the asking price tbh. If I paid $10 for this I'd still be happy. If I had one complaint though it'd be that enemy HP *sharply* ramps up between floor 9 and floor 10, and while I understand that floor 10 is intended to be the final challenge, it's a huge jump in tankiness.

I have 330 hours on record here on Steam and I have no idea how many I have from before I legally acquired RimWorld.
It is worth every penny it's charged for, this game is a very worthy savings goal if you don't have much money to spend on games. Honestly, I don't even need to write an in depth, well detailed review because SO MANY other people have done so already, do yourself a favor and get this game, you'll thank yourself.

Cheers.

I don't normally do reviews, but I felt compelled to because of how I immensly enjoyed VA-11 Hall-A
WARNING: Asolutely subjective opinions ahead
Pros:
- Excellent music & visuals
- Engaging and compelling story that offers a rather unique perspective (a bartender's perspective) on other character's lives
- Eye-catching character design
- Well written characters; some are very likeable, others VERY hateable
- Nifty bartending mini-game in what is otherwise just a visual novel
- I encountered different snippets of dialogue on successive playthroughs, I don't know if it's intentional or not

Cons:
- It's a little bit on the short side, I don't mind but it did take me by surprise (slightly abrupt ending)
