As a Closed Beta supporter, theres nothing quite like logging on to see that my years of playing the game has all gone straight down the toilet. All the weapons and armor I crafted are gone.

Theyve reworked mods several times, and it sucked having to try to find a new group of mods that worked best for me, but my friends and I remained stalwart and kept playing, it was such an easy game to hop on and mindlessly hunt monsters. When they added escalation it was a blast! My wife kept playing even when they completely changed the moveset for her favorite weapons, the chain blades.

But instead of adding more lore, fishing, guild islands, story missions, pets, more dyes/customization (all the things they promised) they decided to throw all our hard work right in the trash. Did you like a certain weapon type? Sorry, you gotta work to get even ONE of them. Or you can just buy them, since most of the weapons in the game are now locked behind a paywall.

Update: I have a PSN account, I didnt mind setting it up as it has none of critical info, and none of my payment methods saved to it. However, other Helldivers who can no longer play the game due to Sony not even being an option in the country is unfair to the playerbase, and the devs.

Gameplay: Its fantastic. The stuff you see in trailers? Happens here.

Battlepass/Gamepass idk what its called: Completely free. You can earn stuff in the main battle pass, and it doesnt expire. If a new one comes out, you can keep working on the old one. You earn lots of premium currency by finding it in-game, or unlocking it from the battlepass. Myself, my friend, and my wife have already all gotten armor sets from the "super store" and the premium battle passes just by playing the game. All weapons are unlocked from the battledress, which you can only progress with "medals" that you find in-game, get by completing missions, and by completing certain objectives. There is no way to outright purchase any weapons with premium currency.

Balance: The weapon and call-in balance feels a lot like Planetside. Your starting weapons are STONG. The other ones you can earn are also strong, but more niche, better up-close, better at range. The stratgems are a blast, but for some players it can be tedious and stressful to learn the strategms and deploy them fast enough. Over time your muscle memory takes over most of these call-ins.

The bad: Theyre currently working on matchmaking issues, which can be frustrating, quickmatch doesnt really work. There are bugs here and there as well. You may need to reset your game if something is weird in the lobby. But Im super surprised by how well its working? My party consists of me on my PC, my wife on her PS5, and a friend on a STEAM DECK... and were only running into an issue maybe every fifth mission, which is usually just us relaunching the game. It can absolutely be frustrating in the moment, but thats the ONLY issue we're seeing with this game. One problem every 2+ hours on a game not even a week old by a small indie company is absolutely forgivable. Especially when people often say "its not that bad" when Call of Duty does it every launch, and Destiny does it every season.

Never received the items I paid for, never get their battle passes

Lots of fun. They've been talking about adding Crossplay for what seems like forever, and its unlikely to happen, but thats my only gripe

Played it with my wife who has very little experience playing video games, we both had a blast.

Split-Screen co-op and controller compatibility made it super easy.

Imagine if WoW was smaller-scale, single-player capable, and the combat was much more fun.

My biggest complaint right now is that the armor sets look nice and allow dyeing, but all of the boots are ENOURMOUS.

Hopefully in the future they add a transmog system and more clothing/armor options. I would even purchase skins if it meant my characters gear would look better.
