is it fun yes it is,
played A&T Tavern : First Pints and liked the potential of the game.
When it got released me and my friends gave 'nother go & try out the game itself.
Simple progress, Simple missions, Simple prepare, Simple combat, Simple animations...
Eveything in the game is to basic and simple lacks details, missions are mmo ish collect 0/5 bla bla...
It is dissapointing to see a game with possible good potential to go so basic overall.
I dont think dev/devs are going to add much content to it either but we'll see about that.

Will i suggest this game 'YES' if only you're going to play with your friends (3-4)
Reason why because there is quite a lot of clicking to do in the game so playing as one is pain in the arse,
Tavern wench, Collector, Deliverer, Cook etc take role between each other and it will only take couple of hours until you finish and do everything possible in the game. Truth is it is quite boring as well for me at least.

This game is a lot of fun and has a lot of potential. I love i can play with my friends easily and can have multiple saves to play with them. I enjoy the corny jokes and how the better you run your tavern, the more access to recipes you can use. (you can find them in the world too!) I actually wish the game is harder. Leveling up is too easy and if you focus on running the tavern more than exploring and questing you will run out of things to actually do at the tavern. I have too much money now without any way to spend it and i can't use it to upgrade or decorate my tavern.

Still, the game is relatively new and these are things that can be addressed as time goes on. I look forward to seeing what else comes of this game!

Let me just start off by saying that I practically live for co-op and base building/sim games. Getting both of those things in one was really fantastic for me, so this game is totally up my alley. Because I'm so passionate about this style of game, I really wanted to give an in depth review and some suggestions that I think would be great to see from it.

First of all, I love the core gameplay loop. I think it's there, it's solid, and it's what I'm after. I love being able to prep dishes, get them out there ahead of time and keep a stock and supply going of what's needed. When my buddy and I played, he pretty much exclusively handled the front of the house while I managed the back of the house.

In the early part of the game, the attacks from zombies was a fun break, but started to get in the way of what I really wanted to do: make the most bad a-- bustling tavern possible. It would be neat to be able to hire "guard owls" or build a fence with guards to ward them off later in the gameplay.

Please unlock the upstairs! We were racking up levels towards the end really looking forward to further expanding, only to find out that the upstairs is currently locked.

Something I found myself really wanting towards the end of the game was to be able to keep expanding more and more. How cool would it be to be able to run not only a tavern, but an inn and stables? We could maintain and rent out rooms that need to be cleaned, clean and tend to traverlers' horses/mounts and their stalls. It would be really cool to tack on some kind of shop or store element, or to be able to keep expanding the inn bigger and better and to keep it bustling. I could easily see an alchemy shop of sorts built into the gameplay loop using the Alembic or something.

Allowing more variability in how the tavern is decorated would be really nice. More access to paintings, being able to paint the walls, place rugs, light sources etc. would add a lot of personalization.

I found combat to be somewhat frustrating. Like some other folks mentioned, I seemed to get hit even when I had dodged or blocked an attack. This made it somewhat difficult to get into combat in general, but to be honest I wasn't really playing this game for combat in the first place. The core gameplay loop doesn't seem to really need it at the moment, so it feels more like a distraction or just a way to gather ingredients.

I like the idea of the bar that allows you to display foods that can be taken by other players or owls, but I found myself running out of room constantly. Eventually, we placed a lineup of huge chests and a bunch of food to sell to navigate around that. A neat solution would be to allow stacks of multiples of the same item to be placed in one spot, maybe with a counter to track how many of those dishes are stacked in that spot. This would allow the space to be utilized more effectively.

The humor in the writing and story was really enjoyable. My buddy and I had a number of laughs from it while we were playing.

The tables seem to demand a lot of space from each other in order for customers to actually find their seats. I definitely would have packed the tavern more fully with tables, but we kept getting a warning that the customers couldn't find their seats, even if the tables themselves were green when placed.

To add more variability and use to the garden, it might be cool to add in "seasons", where different plants could be tracked and planted throughout the year. That way, variability could impact what menu items are possible and pre-planning becomes a factor. Maybe also consider the possibility of being able to plant trees, such as apple trees. We got a bit tired of hunting down apples, so we eventually settled on "importing" our apple juice and cider and making everything else in house.

Some other folks were mentioning that the world seemed a bit empty and I'm inclined to agree. Again, this wasn't really the reason I was playing this game and questing was super low on my list of things to focus on. I'm not sure what would be the fix to this, aside from maybe adding in NPCs with story arcs that you could cultivate meaningful relationships with. Potentially you could also add locations that you could help put funds into restoring in order to unlock access to new things. (Like maybe unlocking a weaver that gives you quests to unlock the ability to make clothes to sell at a shop built onto your tavern?) Or even guards that will help keep certain areas free of monsters so your tavern is less likely to be raided by zombies. We could even have some responsibility for tracking the damage to those outposts and helping restore them when damaged.

As far as questing goes, a notable improvement would be to add some kind of compass and a tracker directing you on which direction to go for your active quest. I found that the trackers only appeared when I got close enough to an active quest, so when I was trying to quest I had to wander around until I was close enough to the location. The same issue existed when trying to find customers to deliver their orders.

All in all, I think the game is really fun and I absolutely love the core gameplay loop of running the tavern and unlocking different sections to it. I would say that my primary hope is to see that expanded on in the future and to have more rooms and features to unlock. Great work and I hope to see more in the future!
