I started playing for the memes back in the old times. But since then I've met a ton of amazing friends, found love, learned to dance (more or less), laughed, cried, and visited beautiful worlds. The game is not without flaws of course. Lag is a persistent issue for everyone (since everything is player made this is pretty much unavoidable with today's tech) and people can crash you through various methods. However, there really isn't anything like this game, give it a shot, you might just find a little home in there.
