Peak narrative. The concepts are/will be as relevant as you can get. If Talos 1 was about the self, Talos 2 expands onto the world and back to the self. Gorgeous landscapes.

The gameplay is the same as Talos 1: puzzles, hidden puzzles, and more puzzles. There are a lot of quality-of-life improvements that can benefit the gameplay but I have a feeling that the core experience is heavily tied to the walking speed and forced movement from puzzle to puzzle. It might be beautiful the first or second time you go around the level but from then on it gets tedious to traverse and explore.

The idea of play comes again as if excusing the mere existence of the game. The game suffers from its strengths as about the last 1/4 of the game I was exhausted and just begging the game just to give me the end but it kept stalling time and time again. The puzzles are just not interesting anymore, and I wonder if they ever were. Did this have to be a game? Where is the fun?

A relic from the present? The game is fun. It all comes down to the price. Will you pay full indie price for a game that looks like a PS2 game?

I would not. I can see that the first dungeon is strangely made to last at least 2 hours, enough for you not to be able to refund it? I do not know. With a bit more of work maybe this can become a solid experience.

But if a WoW meets Diablo 1 type of game is what you came for, you are on the right palce.

The first ending was about 4 hours. The game is not that long as I got to the end on my second try. It is a mix of Metroid meets risk of rain 2 with Touhou.

The tower was fun.

In general this game is fun and plays well. The narrative is a nice to have. To me it is not worth the full price just wait for a sale.

This is the best Backrooms game done so far. You should get into it before reading any reviews. It is a quick experience, you won't regret it.

The atmosphere was super immersive. Aside from the fake walls, the VHS format does wonders on the claustrophobic and uneasy feeling. The subtle but effective horror is the way to go with the Backrooms.

The attention to detail and the sound design do wonders. I was tense my hole journey up to the end.

I suggest you play it before reading this, or any other review:
There may or may not be a monster and you may or may not be able to die. As long as you are not sure, this is insignificant.

It may be that I am biased since I know what lurks on the Backrooms, so maybe a newbie that does not read the game description might not have the same experience. This said, the atmosphere does wonders at communicating the vibe.

It may be lacking a tension breaker, specially towards the end. What do I know, I went straight to the exits without exploring that much, and that is because I was playing as if I were in the real situation.

Good game, keep it up.

Early Access Review
Look, this a neat environment simulation game. Put your money into something else that has better structure.

This is just a game hyped by the backrooms, there are better options out there that create real environments with real gameplay.
